We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara Coffman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamara, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Since I was a little girl, I always liked to spend time with paper and colored pencils. Creativity always felt very natural for me. I am also fairly patient, which I feel is important in a creative process. But for as long as I can remember I always felt drawn to photography, even though I didn’t really know it at the time.

I can’t even recall how many times I would go to my mom and grandma asking to look through our old family albums. Something about looking back at what was and the moments captured forever really interested me. Fast-forward to now and I am still very passionate about captured beautiful moments in life. It is so incredible to be able to eternalize those moments through my art.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I’m a Lifestyle Family and Wedding photographer. I was introduced to professional photography when I was 16 as a receptionist in a photo and video studio back home in Brazil. The owners noticed my passion for photography and offered to teach me a few things here and there. This only fueled my desire for photography more, and some time after I was able to save enough money to buy my own camera and study Photography.

It was really hard as I had to work full time and study at the same time. I remember that I would work overnight at the airport, leave work to go straight to school, be there for 4-5 hours, then finally go home to rest. On top of that I still had homework and assignments to do. It was really busy and tiring, but it was worth it.

I started taking photos of family and friends to build my portfolio and over time people started hiring me! I’ve gotten much better since then and one thing I learned about photography is that you never stop acquiring new skills. That’s because photography isn’t only about clicking. It involves taking care of a whole business.

A few years later, I met my husband, who is a videographer, and we decided to create NTC Photo+Film. It is always fun when we have the opportunity to work together!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We have been living in West Palm for a little bit less than a year, but we do have some spots that we love and take family when they come over. On Sundays we definitely go to Christ Fellowship Church. That place has such an exciting and loving environment.

One of our favorite places to go for a walk is The Square in downtown. We love looking at the big tree and watching kids playing in the fountain.

Of course, we can’t miss the beach! Riviera Beach has been our favorite spot to go. There is a strip-mall by the beach with a free parking lot and many places to eat, one of which has really good ice cream.

If thinking about a nice place to go and relax while looking out at the ocean, a 30 min drive south will take us to William O. Lockhart Municipal Pier. The sunset view there is stunning!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First of all, I know I couldn’t be where I am now without God. The Bible says in Isaiah 41:10, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.” I am also very thankful for my family for always supporting my dreams. Finally, for my husband, Nicholas, who never let me give up. He has motivated me the most since the day we met.
