We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanesha McQueen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tanesha, as a parent, what have you done for your children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The most important thing I have done as a parent in terms of the impact on my children, was doing my work. Heal the past traumas that have affected me and some of the women who came before me. I came to the realization that her story is my story because of this thing called pathology, so if I didn’t address certain traits, my girls would be living some of the same things, that most call generational curses. Although all things can’t be prevented, they can be discussed before they even are faced with it, and that way they will know how to deal with it, shall these things presents themselves in their lifetime. I always love to face things proactively, instead of reactively. From doing my work, I have created my workbook Becoming a Whole You, available on my website and Amazon. In addition, I created a YouTube Channel under Styling Her Esteem with segments called Life Lessons with S.H.E. We cook, we discuss what a healthy relationship looks like, finances and value verses behavior. The first step was doing my work and the next step is helping alongside my husband raising whole children.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started Styling Her Esteem as a hairstylist. From the beginning, I knew I wanted to be more than a hairstylist. Serving many clients with different stories and backgrounds I saw the need to help clients do more inner work and it made my want to help to heal their insides so much more. So much, that I have turned my Styling Her Esteem to a personal development based company where we help rebuild the self esteem from the inside. It doesn’t matter how beautiful you make someone on the outside, if their insides are a mess. There are no filters and makeup for your insides and one can never win, if they’re not right within. I use my personal experiences to show individuals that I once too had struggles that I needed to heal from as well and that becoming a whole you is being the best YOU!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A girl always needs a little retail therapy! When you look good, you feel good! We would hit the stores and grab a bit to eat. In Florida, we would definitely hit up Sawgrass. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to Shoutout the 4 J’s! Having you girls pushed me to want to be my best self. It helped me work on the girl in the mirror, as well as help many other souls. In addition, Styling Her Esteem was created in you girl’s light. I am blessed to be y’all mama!
