We had the good fortune of connecting with Tania Arguelles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tania, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from a city called Chetumal, located in Quintana Roo, Mexico. Since I was young, I followed the expected path: study, work, and meet societal expectations. I obtained a degree in Commercial Systems, which encompasses business administration and marketing. However, I never had the opportunity to start my own business or actively participate in a company. Instead, I developed my career in the educational field. This experience led me to pursue a master’s degree in education, aiming to understand educational processes more deeply and the positive impact they can have when properly implemented.

Migrating and stepping out of my comfort zone has been a revealing adventure. This experience has challenged my perceptions of life and how the world operates. Starting from scratch in a new environment opens up a range of opportunities and risks. Although things might not always go as planned, there is also the chance to achieve significant change. It is essential to stay true to our beliefs and values, and continuously strive to make a positive impact on society.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The world of art in the beauty industry, especially eyelash extensions, has been a fascinating challenge. The learning curve to perfect these skills can be gradual, but nothing that perseverance cannot overcome.

Practice is crucial for those looking to enter the beauty industry, as are ongoing updates such as courses, mentorship, and staying current with trends. Initially, it’s common to draw inspiration from others, but over time, you discover your own voice and how to uniquely connect with your audience.

What I would love the world to know about me and Selbeyé is that it’s a space where unique eyelashes are created, designed to enhance the gaze and provide a special radiance. Beyond that, Selbeyé is a place where people can feel good, calm, and relaxed—a space to disconnect and reconnect with themselves, with their essence. That’s the experience I aim to convey to each of my clients.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There have been many people by my side throughout this journey. From my teachers and mentors in university, my career advisors, to my husband, my mom, my grandmother, my brother, and my entire family, they have always been there cheering me on. I am immensely grateful for their unwavering support. Additionally, I want to express my gratitude to the individuals I’ve met along this journey. Even those who haven’t been around for long have taught me valuable lessons, whether from positive experiences or challenges they’ve presented. I’ve learned from every interaction, and each has contributed to my growth.

As for books that have left a mark on me, I recommend “The 4-Hour Workweek” by Timothy Ferris. It’s an incredible source of inspiration for those looking to venture into entrepreneurship. And for those, like myself, in the service industry, I highly recommend “Inside the Magic Kingdom: Seven Keys to Disney’s Success” by Tom Connellan. This book provides a deep dive into customer service culture, teaching us that providing good service alone isn’t enough to retain customers; one must go further and create memorable experiences.

Each of these people and resources has left an indelible mark on my life and development, and for that, I extend my heartfelt gratitude.
