We had the good fortune of connecting with Tatiana Escobar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tatiana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
From the very beginning of my career, I knew I didn’t want to work for a corporate business. My goal was always to be a part of something smaller, where I could have a more personal connection to the work and, ultimately, make it my own. This mindset led me to my first business, Inklab Signs. I started working there at 19, and by the age of 26, I became a partner with the owner. We ran a successful shop by continually thinking about how we could grow and evolve with the times. We began with simple offerings like business cards and slowly expanded to include services like vehicle wraps and t-shirt printing, transforming the business into a one-stop shop for all signage and printing needs. Strategizing for growth and keeping up with market trends was always a priority.
When I sold that business, I applied the same thought process to my next venture, Twist Media Productions. With a focus on photography and videography, I knew the key to success would be similar—strategizing for growth, acquiring new clients, and maximizing what the production company could offer. Now, three years into running this business, I see the importance of not only focusing on growth but also mastering time management and execution. Those elements have been essential in keeping the wheels turning and ensuring the business continues to thrive.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Twist Media Productions, we specialize in photography and videography with a focus on capturing the essence of individuals, businesses, and events. What sets us apart is our ability to tell stories through visuals. Whether it’s a corporate event, a family portrait, or lifestyle content, our mission is to go beyond the basics and truly capture moments that resonate on a personal level. We’re not just about creating beautiful images; we’re about delivering experiences that connect with people’s emotions and brand identities.
I’m incredibly proud of how far the business has come. One of the things I’m most excited about is how we’ve evolved in just three years. We’ve grown a diverse client base, and with each new project, we continue to push creative boundaries. It wasn’t always easy, though. Running a business comes with challenges like time management, staying ahead of industry trends, and ensuring that every client gets a unique and personalized experience. The key to overcoming these challenges has been resilience and staying adaptable. I’ve learned that being flexible and open to change, while also being consistent in delivering high-quality work, is essential.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of building relationships. Whether it’s with clients, team members, or mentors, relationships have been the foundation of my growth. From my early days at Inklab Signs, where I learned the ropes of business and strategy, to now running Twist Media Productions, it has always been about growing with the people around me.
What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that this isn’t just about business—it’s a personal journey. I’ve been in the creative marketing world for over 20 years, and my passion for photography and videography started when I was young. Rediscovering that passion later in life and turning it into a business has been incredibly rewarding. Twist Media Productions represents a full circle of creativity, dedication, and love for the craft. We are more than just a production company—we’re storytellers, and we want to help others tell their stories too.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Miami for a week, we’d make it an unforgettable experience, starting with the must-see tourist spots. We’d kick things off at Bayside, where we could soak in the lively atmosphere and grab some incredible photos—because Miami is just full of picture-perfect spots. From there, we’d visit the Frost Museum for a mix of science and stunning views of the bay, followed by lunch outdoors overlooking the water. Of course, no trip to Miami is complete without a visit to the Wynwood Walls, where vibrant street art from local and international artists would inspire yet another round of photos. For dinner, I’d take them to Pollos y Jarras for an authentic taste of Peruvian cuisine in downtown.
Throughout the week, we’d mix some relaxation with adventure. We’d visit the Break Room to let out some stress and have some fun, then head over to the iconic Miami Beach, where Ocean Drive and the famous rainbow lifeguard station on 12th Street await. As we enjoy the sun, we’d wrap up the evening with dinner on Española Way, known for its wide selection of charming restaurants. We’d spend our days bouncing between photo-worthy locations like Coconut Grove, downtown, Coral Gables, and of course, Miami Beach, enjoying everything from vibrant art to delicious food. There’s never a dull moment in Miami!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d also like to give a huge shout-out to Carlos Parets, who initially hired me at Inklab Signs. Our journey together grew into a partnership, and without his mentorship—both as a business owner and in life—I wouldn’t have the skills and background I do today. He taught me so much about strategy, growth, and what it takes to run a successful business.
Another person who played a key role in my new venture is Luis Miguel Berrios. He brought me into the world of digital media and introduced me to my mentor, Ernesto Jiménez, who has been instrumental in my photography and videography education. Without them, I wouldn’t have rediscovered my passion for photography—a love I’ve had since I was a child. Their guidance reignited that fire in me, allowing me to fully immerse myself in this world.
