We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Bloom and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, what do you attribute your success to?
Any success that I’ve had is from efforts to share what’s in my mind and heart. Listening and then creating/expressing whatever I see/hear/feel internally. I really think that’s where we all get “success” from- people are so cool, and can do the coolest things once they’re activated. Too often we get misled by generic definitions of success and start driving someone else’s shitty dreams forward. That’s what I did for a bit too. But success really only comes from expressing your individual form of creativity, your ideas, and your voice- your specific and authentic identity is the only well you can continuously dip into- get curious to learn about your special sauce! Know that you have it, and it’s probably really beautiful.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What are you most excited about? Right now I’m most excited about a top secret project that I can’t share much about but I want everyone to come say hi on IG @therescuecollection so they’ll be able to know as soon as I’m ready to say! I’m hoping to be able to announce the project in November, but it’s all I can think about.

What are you most proud of?
I think I’m most proud of my failures, honestly. I love being able to look back at the hard moments and see that I picked myself up and kept moving forward. We really don’t make it out of this world unscathed, and I’m proud to know that I can handle that.

Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
Time is such a gift. Time really helps give you the perspective and emotional distance to move forward. In moments where it’s not easy, my recommendation would be to go easy on yourself and give it time. Soon, you’ll be just fine.

What sets you apart from others?
I’d like to think it’s authenticity. Similarly to what I had to say about success, I think I’m just doing my best at being me- I really like being me. I like that I get to share this person with the world, or whoever will listen. In a very literal sense, that’s the only way to set yourself apart from others in a positive way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Omg ok I am truly the best person to ask this question because I explore Florida all the time and I am truly about to hit you with the best weekend of your life. Even locals should do this.

I would probably want to show them three Southern Florida areas, starting with Palm Beach, moving to Delray, and then ending in Miami, possibly with a baby trip to the Keys depending on the time and energy we have.

First, I’d get them in the water. Florida’s oceans are so miraculously wonderful- (the fact that we don’t take better care of them and use so much plastic here blows my mind, but that’s a rant for another time). We’d grab some fun cocktails/mocktails on the beach, catch up under an umbrella, and then head to Worth Avenue for a little shopping- maybe buy a cute outfit for dinner. Go into all the little side alleys!

Dinner is happening at HMF in the Breakers hotel. Get the Palm Beach roll with shrimp and literally whatever else sounds good, their menu is perfect.

The next day, start with a morning walk on the 3.75 mile loop through the Arthur Marhsall State Park which is halfway between Palm Beach and Delray- your next stop.

Then head to Delray first get brunch at Lionfish then do all the fun hippie things: check out a farmer’s market, take a yoga class, maybe one other healing modality like a salt cave, sound bath, massage, or tarot reading (they have literally everything) and stroll Atlantic Avenue. Maybe one more OJ (ocean jump) and then dinner either at Akira Back in Pineapple Grove or Le Colonial on Atlantic.

Finally, we hit Miami. Preferably on a Sunday. My favorite spots here at the 1 hotel, the Faena hotel, and walking the Miami boardwalk. For Sunday night, you’ll wanna go hang before through after sunset at South Point park. It’s a vibe. I’m not a club person so I wouldn’t know what to recommend for that! But Miami obvi has this.

If you have time to make it down to the keys, choose Islamorada and spend a few hours at the restaurant Morada Bay Cafe. It’s so beautiful but casual and delicious. Get the fish tacos!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Each and every customer that has ever engaged with The Rescue Collection has the most special place in my heart. Every purchase, conversation in my little market tent, compliment on an outfit, engagement with content, etc. has continued to move the needle forward on an idea. Community is incredibly energizing and motivating.

Particular shoutouts to my fam for the shelter, love, and food necessary to do anything well, FIDM in Los Angeles for teaching me how to sew, drape, make patterns, Fete Market in Portland, ME for being the first market I ever tried, Coco Market in Delray Beach, FL for really getting the ball rolling and helping me find my voice, Little River Flea in Miami, FL for creating the coolest, most sustainable market ever, and Cyn Alexandre, who is my best friend and by far my number one customer lol.
