We had the good fortune of connecting with Teddy & Meagan Babanao and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Teddy & Meagan, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
For us, the most important factors behind our success is attitude, patience and consistency. Without these three things, Magnolia Sunsets would not have made it past 2021. It’s one thing to sell yourself, and others, on a dream – that’s the easy part. It’s another thing to make the dream come alive.
Our first few months (although very fun) were difficult. We spent a lot of time in the introductory phase, getting to know our clients and other vendors, and also gaining a certain level of trust. As a new business, it takes a while to build a good reputation – or any reputation at all for that matter. From day one, we were committed to putting our clients first and hearing them out on every single detail in order to bring their events to life. Our goal is not only to style a beautiful event, but to leave our clients with memories that last a lifetime. Events last a few hours and then it’s all over, but the memories – they get to keep.
We also spent a lot of time finding our style and perfecting our craft; something we’ll continue to work on every day. Without a good attitude, patience, and consistency, we would have never made it past this phase. Some days it felt like we were moving in slow motion, but not once did it feel like we were moving backwards. With each and every event, we continue to see improvement. We’re building confidence, we’ve found our groove, and most importantly, we’re SO proud of ourselves!
What should our readers know about your business?
At Magnolia Sunsets, although we are event planners, we put people first. That’s something we’re most proud of. When anyone reaches out to us about their event, our first intention is to get to know more about them. We want to know what they are celebrating, what they are envisioning, and how we can help them. Our top priority is to establish a proper connection with our clients. Without that, the event planning process can be difficult when it comes to communication and understanding. Once the vision is clear, that’s when the magic happens. By the time the big day comes around, we feel like we know our clients on a more personal level, which makes everything a lot more fun!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As interior design fanatics, our absolute favorite spot is RH Rooftop in West Palm Beach, which we’ve also visited in multiple other cities during travel. It’s become a tradition for us to take our guests there to have brunch & drinks, and of course we never leave without taking the grand tour afterwards. We mostly go alone as it has become a regular spot for business meetings and brainstorming, but it’s always nice to make a casual visit.
We also love taking spontaneous drives just a few hours up north. We spend so much time planning events for other people, that when it comes to us, it’s quite enjoyable to just let the fun find us…and it always does!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to dedicate this shout out to Lauren at LV Photography LLC. She was the first person we met on this journey, and not only captured Magnolia Sunsets’ launch photos in 2021, but also gave us amazing advice and served as a mentor leading up to our launch. There was so much we still had to learn before entering this space and our nerves were high, but Lauren was there for us and worked hard to help bring our dreams to a reality. We wouldn’t be here without her!
