We had the good fortune of connecting with Tia Daniels and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tia, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Mood Candlescapes was born from a deep passion for creating unforgettable event experiences. As a lead floral designer for my floral company Ten19 Blooms, I saw firsthand how candles and flowers go hand in hand to create the perfect ambiance. But I also noticed a recurring challenge — most venues only give a few hours for setup, leaving planners and florists scrambling to manage a long list of tasks in a very short time. Candle décor, though essential for setting the mood, often became an extra burden.

That’s when the idea for Mood Candlescapes took shape. I wanted to take that pressure off the shoulders of event professionals and solve a problem I had experienced myself. With our white glove service, we manage the entire process — from delivery and setup to breakdown and cleanup. Planners and florists no longer have to worry about storage, transportation, or even the smallest detail of candle placement. It’s all part of what we call our Signature Glow Experience, a seamless journey from start to finish where every candle is perfectly placed to enhance the overall design.

At Mood Candlescapes, we’re not just providing candles — we’re creating moments that bring warmth, connection, and beauty. We’re passionate about helping event professionals bring their visions to life with ease, so they can focus on their work and their clients. Our goal is to make everything run smoothly, because we know that when candles are added, they do more than just light up a space — they set the mood, making every detail feel richer and more inviting. That ability to transform a setting is what inspires us and keeps us doing what we love.

Mood Candlescapes is more than just a business to me; it’s a reflection of my passion for creating beautiful moments and helping others along the way, in any way I can. What truly sets Mood Candlescapes apart goes far beyond just products or services — it’s my passion, my skill set, and my deep understanding of the event industry. I know firsthand how crucial every detail is in creating a seamless event. But what really makes the difference is the fire within me, the passion that drives me to give my absolute best to every client. I pour my heart into what I do, asking 101 questions if necessary, because I want everything to be perfect for them. That level of dedication is what defines Mood Candlescapes — we won’t sleep or eat until every candle is placed, every detail is flawless, and our clients’ vision has come to life. This relentless commitment to excellence is what makes Mood more than just a candle company — it’s a partner in bringing unforgettable moments to life.

I’m here today by the grace of God and because of my husband, who believed in me even when I didn’t fully believe in myself. He made me promise not to quit until I had worked at the business for five years — and let me tell you, I’m so proud that I’ve kept that promise! Starting a small business is scary because there are so many unknowns. Every day brings new challenges, especially balancing the business with being a mom to a kindergartener. Honestly, my son’s schedule is more hectic than mine, but he inspires me daily to keep going.
One of the biggest challenges I face is patience. It’s hard not to rush toward the vision I have for my business. Sometimes, I just want to skip to the part where everything falls into place, but God constantly reminds me to slow down, stay the course, and trust the process. If I stay focused, work hard, and keep the faith, everything will unfold in His perfect timing.

As my favorite singer India Arie says, “There’s a blessing in every lesson,” and that has been so true in my journey. Along the way, I’ve learned some key lessons that I hold close in both life and business:

1. Know your value. Don’t let anyone make you feel small or underappreciated.
2. Be accountable. Take responsibility for your actions and decisions.
3. Be fair in business. Integrity is everything.
4. Sometimes, you have to pay to play. Investing in yourself and your business is essential, even when it feels risky.

Every challenge and every lesson has shaped me into the person and business owner I am today. Beyond growing my own brand, I’m also passionate about being a help to others, especially new entrepreneurs. I love sharing what I’ve learned to help others navigate their journeys and build strong businesses. I’ve poured my heart into this journey, and I’m excited to see where it takes me, one glowing moment at a time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh wow, that’s a great question! If my best friend were visiting, I’d definitely try to give them the best experience possible. I’d start off with a whole lot of beach time — because why not, right? From Haulover Beach to Pompano Beach, we’d spend every possible moment soaking up the sun. Now, knowing me, I’d probably have us out there all day long, and, well… let’s just say my friend might not survive my beach marathon! In fact, they’d probably bail on me halfway through the week, complaining, “Girl, you’re trying to sunburn me to death!” 😂

On a more serious note, when we’re not roasting in the sun, we’d explore some of my favorite spots in town. We could wander through the vibrant streets of Wynwood to check out the murals and galleries, head over to the Frost Museum to dive into science and nature exhibits, or enjoy the energy and waterfront vibes at Bayside Marketplace. I’ll be honest, though — I’m kind of a homebody at heart, so there might be some downtime too, just relaxing and catching up at home.

When it comes to food, ohhh I’ve got some spots in mind! We’d definitely hit Harold’s Shrimp & Chicken for some mouth-watering comfort food. For a more upscale vibe, we’d have dinner at Kaluz — the views there are amazing. Then there’s Papamigos in Coconut Creek, where the fusion of tacos and sushi will blow their mind. And, of course, we couldn’t skip Eddie V’s for a night of amazing seafood and live jazz music.
The whole week would be a blend of fun, food, sun, and maybe a little bit of me dragging them out of their comfort zone — just to make sure they experience all the good vibes South Florida has to offer!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! First and foremost, I want to give all glory to God for guiding me every step of the way and giving me the strength and vision to pursue this journey. I also want to shout out my incredible husband, who pushed me to step into entrepreneurship — something I never imagined I’d be doing. Without his belief in me, I might not have taken that leap.

A huge part of my inspiration comes from my 5-year-old son, who loves to help me prep flowers and candles. Seeing his excitement and curiosity motivates me to keep going, not just for myself but for him as well. I also couldn’t do any of this without the unwavering support of my family, who are always willing to lend a hand and constantly spread the word about my business.

A special shoutout goes to my mentor, Jenice Stallings of Styles by Stallings Events. It’s amazing how I initially reached out to her to learn about floral design, but she has become so much more than that. Jenice has coached and guided me in everything from building meaningful relationships to personal development, and her mentorship has been invaluable to my journey.

And of course, I owe so much to the amazing clients who have chosen to book with Mood Candlescapes. They could have picked anyone else, but they put their trust in me, and that belief has allowed me to grow and evolve. Their support means the world to me, and it’s because of them that I get to continue doing what I love.
