We had the good fortune of connecting with Tim Schmidt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tim, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Definitely the ups and downs involved. In over 20 years of doing search engine optimization, I’ve seen countless Google updates that have absolutely destroyed results we worked hard at achieving over months, and sometimes years. Even the best SEO providers have to put their heads together, test data, and resort to a “plan B” when search engine turbulence happens. It’s not always hunky dory, and we can’t always immediately recover search engine rankings. For this reason transparency and constant communication with clients is an absolute must and sometimes those talks are difficult, but it’s part of the game.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Website Rescue is a full service Digital Marketing Agency based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Our core focus is to help businesses of all sizes navigate the murky waters of acquiring more customers online and getting the best ROI out of their online marketing efforts.

What sets my company apart from the others is that I look at each campaign from the lens of a business owner. Most digital marketers simply generate traffic, market, and collect their retainer. As someone who has built, scaled, and exited multiple online companies (all while keeping a private client base thanks to a highly organized, trained team of global professionals), I understand that the ROI has to be there for the campaign to make sense. I turn away more clients than I actually take on because I’m honest, and tell them upfront if I don’t think I can generate them a return on their investment. There are very few digital marketers who have the business acumen, honesty, and integrity to look deeply into a businesses plumbing and understand the longview and be able to determine if it really makes sense for the client.

The main lesson I’ve learned in all my time doing digital marketing is that I value relationships more than revenue. Many agency owners simply onboard clients without understanding what needs to happen for the client to be happy, and at Website Rescue, that’s my priority.

I pride myself in not only being the go-to outsourced Online Marketing Agency for businesses of all sizes, but also a deeply entrenched business development professional who can make connections, partnerships, and alliances happen.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I feel like showing people around Miami definitely needs a full week to offer an authentic experience.

As someone who likes everything to be either five star, (enter Papi Steak), or dive bar, (like Mac’s Club Deuce), I don’t have time for middle of the road experiences. For some authentic experiences in Miami, I would start with going around Little Havana, seeing some Cuban culture, getting the best Cuban coffee, tostadas, and ending with croquetas at Islas Canarias.

Continuing on some Miami staples, I’m a big fan of getting local fish at the Casablanca market, which has the freshest caught seafood in Miami. Perhaps lunch and drinks at Garcia’s next door, you can never go wrong there!

Moving on to more “five star” experiences, you can’t go wrong with a lunch or dinner at Seaspice. That’s a favorite date night spot for my wife and I. While in that area, Brickell definitely has a lot to choose from. From the architectural beauty of City Center and the rooftop bar at Sugar, to walking around to all the casual to fancy restaurants and trendy bars, an entire day can be spent here.

No trip is complete without Wynwood, Miami’s latest neighborhood to surge. Taking in the murals is worth the trip alone. Bakan is my favorite place there for Mexican food in a high-end, Tulum type vibe, and being a tequila snob this is the place to find any tequila imaginable. I’m also a big fan of Pastis French Restaurant, which I got to know in my days of visiting clients in New York City. The Wynwood location is virtually identical in buildout and their brunch is unbeatable.

With a week to spend, I’d make it a point to make the drive down to Islamorada to give a taste of the Florida Keys. The drive is easy and gorgeous, and dinner at Ziggie & Mad Dog’s is always a no-brainer.

Finally, you can’t forget to touch on Broward County. Las Olas has really grown in recent years and there are plenty of things to see and do there. Lobster Bar Sea Grille is a favorite of mine. Finally, I have to end with my favorite place to unwind in South Florida, Smoke on the Water Cigar Bar, which has the best selection of premium cigars, tequila, scotch, and more, in a neighborhood bar type of environment. There is really nothing better that fits classy, casual, and friendly, than Smoke on the Water, and you never know who you will run into as many of the professional athletes who play here or reside here are regulars. To boot, they support the Jason Taylor Foundation and routinely have charity events such as the Chili Cook Off and Poker Tournament, all supporting children in need.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Early in my career I met a Serial Entrepreneur named Nick Molina. I was actually an affiliate of his company, Rapid Satellite, and started seeing great success marketing his products before it was acquired by Circuit City. I didn’t get to know him that well during that tenure, but his name kept surfacing in Miami for companies he founded, and I’d see him around. We re-connected in the mid 2000’s when he founded a vapor company, and I was heavily invested in that space and we started working together again. We became close friends, shared Heat Season tickets, took vacations together, attended each others weddings, and I looked up to him like an older brother I never had. He became a mentor to me, and I learn more just being around Nick than I’d learned in any classroom or mastermind I’ve been a part of. He’s truly a genuine, giving human who wants everyone to succeed, even if it’s by telling you you are making a huge mistake. I was honored that he wrote a fantastic forward to my book, “Amplifying Average,” and continues to be a sound board and advisor to me when I have to make tough decisions. Clearly I’m not the only one who feels this way, as he was brought in by Marcus Lemonis on the hit TV Show “The Profit,” where he helped navigate some serious decisions with another friends business.
