We had the good fortune of connecting with Tip Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tip, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea for Sweetbaby Treats after years of perfecting my grandmothers cake recipes by making them for friends/families, and Company pot lucks

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from others in my industry is that I am self taught baker, who adds love with anything I bake or create. Although I’m not where I want to be business wise, and I say that with the hopes of being a household name as Ms. Patti Labelle is with her pies.I am very proud of my growth not only within my business but also as an individual. To even be where I am now, it takes a lot of hard work, grace, mercy, ambition, and determination. There are many challenges and you will be tested on every level, nothing worth it comes easy. I overcame those challenges by praying, manifesting, surrounding myself with positive people, and doing things that would benefit me and my goals. Sweetbaby Treats is something that is in me, Sweetbaby is actually a family nickname given to me by my great aunt Midge when I was born. Little did she know she was giving me that name to go along with the gift God blessed me with. Once I started baking with my grandma at a young age I knew this was something I wanted to do, I enjoyed it. Baking brings me such peace, it’s like therapy when I feel like it’s me against the world. So look out world Sweetbaby Treats is on the rise, this business has already been blessed and ordained. So make some room for dessert, because we are coming. Full throttle!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our first stop will be to get pampered of course, manicures and pedicures from La’Shan over at tippitoez305. Then some retail therapy with the local boutiques and malls. Eating, we like home cooked authentic food and we both are picky eaters. So we would definitely have to have some food from Chef Chitarra at Dymonds Catering and Fredericka at the Shugashack, Chef Cathy, Dunns River cafe, and my grandma for some good food from the soul. As far as fun, hang out on Las Olas for some beach activities, painting with a twist or even candle making. Nightlife, hit up some Jamaican spots that play old school reggae and some hookah lounges.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Most definitely, this shotout is dedicated to God, my kids Micah and Ti’Ana, my family, friends, my customers, and my mentor Pedro Domit. I thank, appreciate, and love you all.
