We had the good fortune of connecting with Toni de la Torre and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Toni, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Back in 2018, I was working as a Risk Management Consultant in a corporate job (Deloitte) and, although I was in a good work environment and I really liked my job, I did not feel completely fulfilled.
At that moment, I decided to launch a digital marketing agency with a business partner, but after some months, we ended up closing the agency due to lack of time. We did that despite having good results in the agency because of the high demand for these high-value skills, which were not completely covered in the industry at that time.
After a year, I decided to launch my own business as a marketing consultant, helping small businesses create sales funnels. When I realised I had a good expertise and enough confidence, I decided to become a business coach, which is what I am today.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I help Mentors and Experts get more clients through simplified marketing strategies. My mission is to eliminate complexity from these entrepreneur’s businesses to get them back time, joy and financial freedom.
Back in end of 2020 I had too much complexity in my business, which at the same time was stopping me from growing as fast as I wanted. I felt stuck. It was then when I decided to hire a Coach who, after taking a look at my business, deleted every piece that was not helping me grow.
It was not easy, because I was too emotionally attached to some things. But I decided to eliminate them, because I realized they were not good for my business and for me.
And then everything changed. I started to focus only on the activities that were generating results for my clients and for me, and nothing else.
I would like to share one simple idea: As Colin Chapman said: For speed, add lightness.
I see complexity as one of our biggest enemies. As entrepreneurs, we often play solo, we have limited money resources and we don’t have a lot of time to leverage our activities. Then why we do not follow the same principles in our business?
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to Loushen Govender (https://www.linkedin.com/in/loushen), financial marketing coach. He’s a great entrepreneur and leader.
