We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony Castillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tony, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“When you become lazy, it is disrespectful to those who believe in you.” This quote motivates me to do better for my family, my friends and especially my clients. I stay up to date on the nutritional research to ensure I am providing the best service and evidence based practice to my clients. I am always learning from others on how to enhance my coaching. I invest in continuing education dn coaches to ensure I can provide the best for my clients. No time for laziness.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I used to work for the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball organization. I absolutely loved it, however, I was not able to spend time with my family. So, I had to make a hard decision and go into private practice. It was not easy because I was getting a steady income and great benefits. Doing all this work like marketing, social media, accounting, and eventually being the best Dietitian I could be. I have learned to hand off tasks that I am not an expert in. I have someone help with social media, I had someone help with my website, I had someone help with accounting. This way I can just focus on my area of expertise which is to be a Dietitan who helps active individuals and athletes perform at their peak without calorie counting or restrictive diets.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were in town we would start with Happy Hour at Broken Shaker. Then dinner at KYU. Breakfast on Saturday would be Salty Donut then spend the day at Wynwood walls. Lunch would be at coyo for some amazing tacos and guac. Then the afternoon spend it trying different beers around Wynwood. I’m a big fan of Veza Sur. Dinner would probably be at Barley in Downtown Dadeland. Wake up the next day and Burch at Yardbird is the place to be then enjoy the day at the Beach.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to give a big part of my success to my wife. She has supported me day one on my venture to do private practice. She is there for me in my ups and downs. She is my rock and I would not be where I am without her.
