Meet Tony & Karla Bartolone | Artists

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony & Karla Bartolone and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tony & Karla, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Our thought process behind starting our business was driven by the desire to create our own space—a space where family, friends, and new people could come and truly feel like they belong. We envisioned a place that feels like home, where creativity flows freely, and where we can both create and help others bring their visions to life all year round
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
own work. It wasn’t easy for us—it still isn’t and probably never will be. But we love it. We love the process of creating, of making something from nothing, of coming up with new ideas. Many of these ideas are inspired by the work of other creative minds. It’s a chain of creation, where we all inspire and build upon one another, and that connection drives us forward.
This philosophy is a big part of why Buendía is the way it is today. It began as a furniture and plant business, but over time, we started shaping it into something that reflected more of who we are. We opened the doors to art and music, expanding beyond just objects and greenery to create a space where culture thrives.
Now, Buendía is more than a business—it’s a house for culture, a place where creativity in all its forms can be celebrated. Whether it’s through visual art, music, or collaborative projects, we aim to make Buendía a home for self-expression and community.
We’ve learned that the journey of building something meaningful is always evolving. The challenges have taught us to stay adaptable, trust the process, and embrace change as part of growth. What we want the world to know is that Buendía is not just a space or a brand—it’s a story of passion, collaboration, and the love of creating something that brings people together
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would eat at Capriccio italian restaurant, Awash Ethiopian restaurant
Beakfast at The love loaf
For disconnection and connection with themselves ill take them to the thai temple Wat Buddharangsi
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to so many incredible people who have been involved in this project—it’s impossible to name them all! Firstly, our Dad, my husband (Karla’s), my wife (Tony’s), and our Mom—everybody has poured countless hours and so much effort into shaping Buendía into what it is today.
A huge thank you to all our friends—we won’t name names because we don’t want to leave anyone out, but you all know who you are. Your support and hard work mean the world to us. Thank you for helping build Buendía, your home, our home.
