We had the good fortune of connecting with Valeria Lipovetsky and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Valeria, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
One of my favorite quotes is: “embody all versions of yourself but over-identify with none of them.” To me, this means acknowledging all the different parts of my identity but not letting only one of them DEFINE who I am. I’m an entrepreneur, a mother, a wife, a daughter, and a friend. I’m not too fond of feeling like I need to limit who I can be based on who I’ve been in the past, and this quote helps me remember that I don’t need to do that. None of these things define the core me – which has allowed me to evolve and keep my content dynamic over the years. I have space for thoughtful conversations on my podcast while also bringing levity with humor and silliness on other channels. This allows me to not get lost in the roles (even motherhood!) and remember my core values and who I am on a deeper level.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been doing content creation for 8~ years now and it has evolved massively since I started. I started on YouTube, sharing videos about nutrition and vlogging my day-to-day life as a mom living in the suburbs of Toronto. Eventually, my content evolved into fashion, beauty, and lifestyle and I found a sweet spot where I could build a meaningful connection with my audience and still flex my creativity on different social platforms. I’m extremely proud of the team I’ve built around me and of my audience who are always supportive and open-minded when it comes to new projects or something as simple as having a thoughtful conversation via DMs. Just over a year ago, I decided to close my e-commerce brand which was a huge undertaking and focus for me over the previous three years. It was a decision I did not take lightly but it’s led to me being able to invest time into my podcast, Not Alone, and explore new ways to connect with others and learn about myself. I’ve learned the importance of adaptability in my time as a content creator. I’ve learned to trust myself instead of chasing numbers or trends. And I’m very excited and hopeful for the future of VALERIA INC. and the Not Alone Podcast.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh, this is a fun one! I’d start at Pura Vida for a smoothie (I love the Miami Mocha) and then walk around the Design District and go shopping. I’d grab lunch at the food court (sushi) or Mandolin. Then grab ice cream at Kith – it’s so good! For a beach/pool day, I love Faena and walking along the boardwalk. For going out with my girlfriends and dancing, I love HaSalon. The living room at Faena is also great for live music. For a romantic dinner with my husband, we always enjoy LPM. Zak the Baker also has the best challah. The Coconut Grove farmer’s market is a neighborhood gem. With kids, it’s also really fun to visit Superblue, the Frost Science Museum, the Miami Children’s Museum, and the boardwalk.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m lucky to have so many supportive people in my life, but nobody is more supportive than my husband. He believed in me before I believed in myself and he has supported me every step of the way. He’s a great role model for our children. We’ve also worked together on our company, VALERIA INC., for over 7 years now and he has been instrumental to growing our team and ensuring our continued success.
