We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vanessa, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
AirDance Fitness has been open for just over 6 months, so being still fairly new, I’m grateful it’s doing well considering. There’s still much more to do and grow. As far as habits? Consistency, sacrifice, patience, and continued enthusiasm are important. It can get tough! Keeping that air of creativity and energy you did initially is key.
It’s so easy to dwell on the lack of, rather than the accomplishments and how many clients you are positively impacting. It’s really a mental game, you have to train mentally too! It’s cliche, but you have to keep a positive outlook and remind yourself of the WHY. Also, following and networking with those who inspire you and are successful really helps, whether it’s sound business or spiritual advice.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
AirDance Fitness Pole & Aerial Studio in Boca Raton offers different types of Pole Dance, Exotic & Fitness classes, as well as Floorwork, Chair, Aerial Hammock, Lyra Hoop, Twerk & Tone, and Kangoo Boots Fitness. We also just introduced Flying Pole Workshops!
I’m so proud of the versatility of our studio and its apparatuses. I also love that our space has Pole-Aways, meaning we can store poles in the ceiling if we want to create more open floor space. We are the only studio in Palm Beach County with Flying Poles, 5 of them, so that is also really exciting.
It was really challenging designing our 1100 sq ft place to have 7 poles with plenty of distance in between and to be stored away in the ceiling. All that hard work has been worth it because we can do more with the space comfortably.
What lessons have I learned? To not pay any mind to negativity and naysayers. Many will have an opinion and criticize what you’re doing and how you do it. Know whose advice to listen to.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you are in Boca Raton, of course, visit AirDance Fitness 🙂 I love Mizner Park and all the great restaurants, IPIC Theaters and the Museum. I’m also a fan of Delray Beach, especially Downtown with all its special art and food festivals.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our regular students! Especially those that have invested their time and money to be part of the AirDance family! They have so much love and enthusiasm for the studio, the classes, and the instructors. They really make it all worth it. I’m also forever grateful for all my instructors: Kat Contreras, Stela Dwornitski, Patsy Vazquez, Jessica Ayala, Anita White, Nune Arevshatyan & Brooke Taft! The studio is only as good as its instructors.
I would also like to give a special shoutout to South Florida Pole instructor and my friend, Mia Mann. She’s super talented and she volunteered to partner up with me to lead a Competition Team for PSO Nationals (Pole Sport Organization) this August. She has also been a huge supporter from day one!
