We had the good fortune of connecting with Vivian Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vivian, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
OM Movement is one of a few business ventures that I am involved with, but OMM is all about passion. The inspiration for OMM is the desire to be of service to others, create a space for people to feel at home and offer up various movement modalities to enable them to live in wellness and become better humans.
What should our readers know about your business?
OM Movement’s mission is to empower our community to lead an active lifestyle that promotes mental, physical and spiritual well-being. Our studio is unique not only in its size and layout, but in our offerings. I am most proud of the passionate and committed team of Movement Leaders with the same unified vision to elevate our community of Movers to live their best lives. I would have to say that I did not set out to be where I am, but life has a funny way of guiding you were you need to be. Movement has always been a part of my life. Creating the studio allowed me to share my passion with the community. It has been challenging and the biggest lesson I have learned from all the struggles is to make sure that my wellness – mental, physical and emotional are a top priority. My interactions, decisions and actions are very different when I am operating from a healthy place rather than from a place where I am tired or stressed. Being in nature, specifically hiking are my go to’s for this. Find your happy and do that again and again…
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Of course OM Movement is my go to for movement. I love Coconut Grove, it’s such a unique and interesting community in Miami. You’ve got Peacock Park to enjoy the bay. Glass & Vine is fantastic for brunch or happy hour. They have a gorgeous outside seating area under the large park trees. A new gorgeous vegan restaurant, Planta is opening up at CocoWalk which I’m excited about. Green Street or Lulu’s for an outdoor dinner and people watching is just amazing and when I need a little sugar fix, I visit Bianco Gelato, it’s delicious!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My father has been my biggest supporter in all of my ventures and continues to be my best sounding board.
