We had the good fortune of connecting with WHILLY BERMUDEZ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi WHILLY, what do you attribute your success to?
I became exposed to marketing early on when I was a bouncer at several clubs. Since creativity has always been my strong suit, I really enjoyed watching the promoters create themes and concepts that would take serious planning. I figured that I wanted to try my hand at promoting a nightclub- I was probably 18 years old at the time.

I finally mustered the courage to approach one of the hottest clubs on South Beach at the time. It was called Pacha. Myself and a promoting partner got the owners to agree to give us a shot, but little did we realize that they gave us the most difficult night of week. This made trying to get the masses over to Pacha on a Thursday night nearly impossible and so we colossally failed. But in this failure, I learned several lessons and didn’t quit.

In less than one year, I became one of the most popular club promoters on the scene. My name recognition and reputation grew significantly and before I knew it, I had become one of the better-known names in club promotions and concerts from 1995 until 2008- when I finally decided to retire and embark upon new challenges.

Through my almost 1000+ events produced, I learned about planning, branding, design, and leading a team. I applied this experience to starting a small marketing consulting business where I write marketing plans, develop websites & mobile apps for clients. Within the same span of time, I also lent my services full-time to corporations as their Marketing Director or Chief Marketing Officer. While I can market anything, the three main industries where I posses the most experience is media, hospitality, and healthcare.

Today, I continue to work full-time as the head of marketing along with my business serving clients that have been with me for many years. But my latest project is a weekly podcast called the ‘WB Podcast’. Each week, myself and my guests tackle the most interesting topics related to World News, Business, and Positive Living.

In addition to the WB Podcast, I also created another weekly podcast called ‘BIZ 305’. Here, interview business owners and highlight their services, strengths, and their customer testimonial videos. It’s a pretty unique concept to the South Florida market. And most recently, I have created a Florida focused media company geared towards tourism.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m an all around traditional and digital marketing expert and creative director. That’s what I have offered corporate employers and clients since the year 2000. I started as an event producer of nightclubs and restaurants and built on that success which lead me to more clients. I have been providing clients marketing plans, web & mobile development, and marketing leadership. And the journey hasn’t been easy but the more you learn the better you become and the more you can do for others…

The most rewarding element has been seeing and knowing that I continue to achieve results for those that I serve. On the legacy front, I want the ‘WB’ stamp to always be associated with great ideas and awesome companies!

And 6 national and international marketing awards in less than 2 years is not too shabby.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had friends coming into town, I would take them to the Florida Keys. We would check into to one of the better tropical themed hotels and start with some margaritas and tequila right after check in!

Later after that, we would go from dinner that features some grilled mahi mahi and fried oysters.

On day 2, we would go scuba diving at John Pennecamp Coral Reef State Park and if there’s any time and energy left, some fishing or jet skiing too!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think if I had to dedicate my shoutout, it would be to my parents! They are equally responsible for teaching me the most important aspects of life which are: make wise decisions, save money, but most of all… BE A GOOD PERSON!

It’s all about being successful in business by making wise decisions and successful in personal relationships by simply helping others and never hurting them.
