Meet Wilson Romero | Artist and Scientist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wilson Romero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wilson, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Happiness comes from the inside, comes from the heart. Happiness is a daily discipline of practicing the art of healing throughout kindness and forgiveness. The more I practice kindness and forgiveness the more happy I am. I wrote a poem that it says: I don’t look down anymore, it’s not worth it. I Always look up.
I Look forward.
I Look inside.
Because when I look up I breathe better and I feel free.
When I look forward, I see the brightest future.
And when I look inside, I’ll find you and you will find me.
And when we meet we will forgive each other and then, we will meet in this beautiful garden where we can heal with kidness and feel complete.
In the garden of gratitude which God calls the garden of happiness.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Firstly, Art is my passion and it’s my top career since I was young but I also love science and through the years I been working in the medical laboratory field too, Today I work in the organ transplant laboratory field, since I was a kid I always asked for Christmas art supplies or a simple microscope so I could look at little things from nature. In my family the top priority from my parents was that all of us have a great education, something that they never had the privilege to have, but my parents wanted to make sure that we had it all the way. Today I feel proud of them for giving us such a privilege.
Wilson Romero was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela in 1967. He attended The Catholic University of Cecilio Acosta in Maracaibo, Venezuela.
where he earned his degree in Art and Education. His interest in new horizons and opportunities encouraged
him to move to the United States in 1994. Wilson’s artistic vision matured as he found many new inspirations
for his work based on family, cultural influence and diversity.
His painting inspirations come from romantic poetry and the translation of Colors into poems and poems into
colors. Another inspiration and influence comes from famous artists like Gustav Klimt, Amedeo Modigliani,
Vincent Van Gogh and Michelangelo, through patterns, textures, fabrics, scenery and backgrounds.
“Painting is the only place where I can reach my heart, when I paint; I can see my soul like a mirror. When I
paint I can feel my poems in every single brush stroke full of colors. Through my paintings I am here, I am not
invisible
I exist.”
Wilson’s paintings often include his poetic writing on the back of his pieces, which gives the viewer a closer
vision into his creative insight journey.
I remember that since I was a child I read and wrote poems dedicated to love, life, freedom and God.
Throughout the years this poems inspired my imagination and brought me peace.
The poems transform into colors and become the transition into my canvas filling them with romantic feelings,
and even melancholy.
My paintings are a reflection of my stories, God is the support of my hands and my heart, in my canvases my
faces are expressing the intimacy of my soul.
My fabrics are my meditation.
My space is my tranquility.
My birds are my freedom, and colors are poems.
The poems of colors that illuminate my imagination and makes me feel alive.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite place to take someone special will be St. Petersburg. Florida. To enjoy the magnificent sunsets at the beach drinking a delicious red wine, laughing, making jokes and talk about anything.
Second place in St Pete will be, visiting the Salvador Dali museum and enjoy his famous wonderful Art.
Than, Sushi for dinner and why not, more red delicious wine and keep laughing until the night is over.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The recognition goes to my Mother, she is my biggest inspiration.
Mother of mine, If my soul breathed in another life, I don’t remember.
If I will Love you again in the one that is to come, it would be my glory.
The only thing I know is that I was born from the pain of a naked woman, under the sky that still caresses the moon and stars.
The only thing I know is that I was born in the arms of a woman in love with me.
The woman who sang to me poems of colors in the silent nights.
The one who gave me a gentle breath of life and that with sadness raised me towards my happiness, because she knew that one day I would walk away alone without leaving footprints.
And if I come to love you again in the life that will come, I will Love you with all my heart and soul, with all my strength.
Until you, Mother of mine; become my endless poem and my eternal privilege of living.
