We had the good fortune of connecting with Ynge Ljung and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ynge, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always been drawn to the arts, starting with painting and later evolving into pottery and other forms of craftsmanship. Growing up in a family of artists—my father was an actor, his brother a painter, and my mother musically talented—nurtured my passion. Despite this, I initially pursued a degree in chemical engineering, unsure if I had the talent to succeed in the art world. However, my technical background proved invaluable, allowing me to create unique glazes and clays for my pottery. Ultimately, it also played a crucial role in the development of The Allergy Kit, merging my artistic creativity with scientific precision. This blend of art and science has defined my career, enabling me to innovate and create in ways I never imagined.

What should our readers know about your business?
I finished acupuncture school at almost 57 years of age—while many people are thinking about retirement, I was just getting started. Initially, I worked with my mentor, but soon I opened my own clinic. While having my own place was beautiful, it was also a significant financial challenge.

Through this journey, I learned a lot, particularly about the profound impact of allergies on various ailments across all age groups. The hardest hit are children with autism, many of whom suffer from numerous allergies and compromised immune and digestive systems. This is partly due to the overuse of antibiotics, which have affected many of us.

Allergies are on the rise, and this realization led me to create The Allergy Kit, a simple, pain-free DIY process that can be used by the whole family. It empowers individuals to take charge of their own healing and health. I’m proud of this innovation because it enables people to take responsibility for their well-being in an accessible and effective way.

Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy. Overcoming financial challenges and learning to navigate the complexities of running a business were significant hurdles. However, these experiences taught me resilience and the importance of perseverance.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that we are dedicated to empowering people to improve their health. The Allergy Kit represents not just a product but a commitment to helping families achieve better health outcomes through understanding and managing allergies.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Sure! Here’s a polished response incorporating your information:

Living near the beach in South Florida is a blessing, offering plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature and unwind. While I don’t go out often, there are some wonderful places I love to recommend. Just north of me, in West Palm Beach, you’ll find Butterfly World and the Morikami Japanese Garden—both are beautiful and serene spots perfect for a day of relaxation and exploration.

We also have the Everglades, which, despite being hot, humid, and mosquito-filled, are fascinating. The Everglades are home to a unique ecosystem, including some huge pytons, that unfortunately have become invasive species after being imported from Asia and released into the wild. These reptiles have disrupted the local habitat, even preying on native species like crocodiles.

South Florida boasts many excellent restaurants, offering diverse and delicious cuisine. While I don’t eat out often, the variety and quality of dining options here are impressive, catering to all tastes and preferences. Whether you’re looking for fresh seafood, international flavors, or gourmet dining experiences, this region has it all.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I came to the US due to a romance that didn’t work out, leaving me without money and without a work permit. It was a challenging situation, and I wasn’t sure how to navigate it. I managed to get a temporary job because I speak several languages, but it was a tough period.

Then, I got a job helping an artist paint a mural. Unfortunately, the day before we were set to start, I tripped and broke my wrist in multiple places, which ended my painting plans. During this difficult time, I met an older woman named Julie, who had never had children but took a liking to me. She was battling cancer, which was returning, and I helped her by driving her, shopping, cooking, and providing companionship.

When I broke my arm and couldn’t work, I decided to pursue my long-standing interest in health and nutrition and enrolled to become an acupuncture physician. Julie’s support was crucial during this time. Without her help, I could never have finished school, even though I worked throughout my studies. I called her my adopted mother, and she introduced me as her daughter. I’m incredibly grateful to Julie for her kindness and support during such a pivotal time in my life.
