We had the good fortune of connecting with Yvari Toussaint and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yvari, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I personally pursed a creative career in fashion design. I did this because, no matter what career was presented to me throughout my years at school, nothing caught my attention. I’ve always wondered why there weren’t any creative options to become an artist or designer. This opened my eyes about my life and who I was destined to become. Every time I tried to imagine being a doctor or lawyer it sounded nice financially, but I genuinely knew it wasn’t my thing. Fashion has always been something that I was known for. Designing for people known in my area really put my name out there in my city. I’ve received nothing but support from the people I love the most ; it made me realize that I want to make an impact in the fashion world/industry. I want to show people that if you believe in yourself the support will follow. I ultimately want to inspire other creatives and bring us together as a community.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My creations in Fashion Design set me apart from others when it comes to precision. I’ve always been a perfectionist and that comes with many pros and cons. The huge pro from being one is definitely my accuracy in detail. I got here through years of practice and discipline. I feel like when it comes to success its all about discipline. None of what I have accomplished was easy. In this past year I’ve finished school, completed commissions, competed in competitions ,created a collection, and many more. Every year things just get better and better. Seeing the end result and manifesting my reality has impacted my results tremendously. I couldn’t have gotten any of this done without the support of my family but most importantly God. Along the way I’ve learned that nothing in life comes handed to you, you literally have to just send it. What do you have to lose?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well first we would go to Worth avenue to check out the beach and the scenery. I love taking trips up there, only to see the lifestyle of the successful. Being surrounded by that energy just allows you to know that anything possible. Its a bit slower and not super crazy like Miami. After I’d take him to go and visit the art galleries up there, all of them are usually close, so we would be able to talk about which one we felt was the best. The most interesting things to see down here is the nature and the luxurious lifestyle. I love Miami when I want to see more of the street scenery. We would go and visit Wynwood for the shops, art, diversity, and the food. Brickell town center for more of the luxury scene, and South Beach for the island vibes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes, first I would like to shoutout to God. If it wasn’t for him I would still be lost haha. I’d also like to shoutout to my family for supporting me from the beginning. Thank you for always believing in my ability to create something special. My Teachers, (Mrs. Goodman) from my High school played a big role in my years there. She believed in me from the jump, and she was always has that genuine spirit. Letty Sanchez at my current school at THOS (The House Of Sanchez) has pushed me to new heights, from winning my first big competition to competing in NYFW 2022. Lastly to all of my friends, thank you for picking me up when I’m down and giving me advice to become a better creative.
