Meet Yvette Sadovoy | Tax Strategist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yvette Sadovoy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yvette, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work-life balance is one of the most important things for me to maintain especially working in the accounting world. Many people don’t realize that for 4 months out of the year we essentially work 15+ hour days with barely any days off. While I love serving my clients and the thrill of the rush, it is very tolling. You barely see your family or friends or have any rest. While I was single it was fine, but as you go through life’s stages, you begin to realize that you have to make time for the things that matter because you’ll never “find” spare time. Because of this grueling schedule I make it a point to spend a lot of time traveling and just being with my family off tax season. Summers are usually shorter hours and I set hard boundaries not to respond to emails after work hours.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Savvy & Suite Ltd. is unlike any other accounting firm. We provide bespoke custom strategies to save small businesses and entrepreneurs tens of thousands of tax dollars every year! But we’re so much more than that. Going back to that work-life balance, we make sure to encourage our clients, and followers, to take the money they save every year and go somewhere they’ve never been. The S&S Blog is a honeypot for money minded individuals with a thirst for adventure.
Our office ambiance is also right on brand. We don’t believe in uptight pant suits and certificates on the wall. Instead you’ll see photos on the wall from one of our many travels to lesser known parts of the world. Our staff is friendly and inviting and you always feel at home with us. A place where you can trust that we are only here to provide top quality work and nothing else.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I began working in my dad’s accounting firm when I was only 13 years old. I learned the entire job in the field and never took an accounting course until my masters program. He forced his clients, ranging from individuals to multi-million dollar corporations, to work with me and provide me whatever information I needed to prepare their returns. He forced CEOs and Hedge Fund Guys to work with a 16 year old. I didn’t realize it then, but I see now how he shaped me to deal with clients in the real world. At a very young age I picked up the game of tax deductions and savings and was rather good at it. By the time I was in my mid-20s I was already preparing individual and corporate returns utilizing advanced tactics and a wit that can only be cultivated by a true mentor; slowly over time. Thanks dad!
