We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Sadarangani and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monique, how do you think about risk?
I am a strong believer that without risk, there is no reward. With this said, taking risks is a scary thing. As human beings, we find comfort in the known and security in stability. We often find ourselves feeling a need or desire to move in a certain direction, make a decision that may risk our stable environment, or otherwise change our circumstances in a drastic manner. These feelings from our heart are often minimized by listening to our heads. What if I fail? What if the risk is too great? What if I cannot do it? Taking risks has been pivotal in my finding my way in life and gaining success as an attorney with my own law practice. One of the hardest decisions I have made was to open my own law practice. I put off the decision, letting my fears take over. Ultimately, putting my fears aside and allowing myself to have faith in my abilities, knowledge, and skillset, allowed me to take that leap.

What should our readers know about your business?
My law practice focuses on estate planning, probate, and guardianship work in Florida and Massachusetts. I pride myself and my practice on being client-centered and family oriented. As a mother of a toddler, I know that patience, care, and explanation are key to ensuring there is a feeling of comfort and understanding. I take these attributes into my practice and work with my clients with the same approach, which I believe is lacking in the law profession as a whole. I knew that I wanted to be available in this way to my clients when I opened my firm over a year ago. I knew I wanted to be an attorney that was not all about the bottom line, but one that worked with clients in times of need. It is definitely a balancing act: to both run a business and truly deal with clients in this manner. I have had to learn ways to find balance in this, and I continue to grow and learn from my experiences, mentors, and surroundings.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I am definitely a “homebody”, but when I do go out, I enjoy being in nature and enjoying good cuisine. Miami is a great city for both! Over the years, since moving to the city, I have been able to host both family and friends coming to visit. Some of my favorite places to visit are the Fairchild Botanical Gardens or the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. For dining, I love the breakfast items at Zak the Baker in Wynwood, a seafood Miami Beach staple of stone crabs at Joe’s Stone Crab for lunch on the beach, and a fun trendy night out for dinner at Komodo in Brickell.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
At a time in my life when I struggled with illness, where I was on the verge of death, I found comfort and healing in the writings and words of Deepak Chopra. Specifically, it was during this time in my life that I made the decision to launch my own law practice. One of Deepak Chopra’s books, Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul, has been especially inspiring to me, allowing me assistance in creating a new life for myself…the one I know I deserve. In addition, I would not be where I am today without the love of my son, Sammy. My perseverance is a direct result of having him by my side. Each day I wake to be strong, work hard, and make a better life and world for him.
