Artists and creatives face innumerable challenges given that their career path often doesn’t come with a playbook, a steady paycheck or any form of safety net. It’s definitely not easy and so we asked a few of the artists and creatives we admire to talk to us about why they chose to pursue an artistic or creative career.

I love this question as it plays a ton into what I stand for in my brand. I left my job I knew for seven years, to fulfill our goal and my dream of raising our daughter full time. With that, I know that staying at home full time can lead to parents falling into the same daily routine, and I still wanted to keep my passions alive which is fashion, creativity, networking and meeting people, and sharing my love for motherhood and lifestyle. As a kid I was always doodling strange creatures and I had a knack for it. On a few occasions I was called down to the principle’s office for this (sorry mom). As my skills developed, these little creatures got more complex. I watched my father hat his job everyday. For years he worked in business with people he described as “Lump Fish”. My father is quite the character. Not taking anything away from how hard he worked, but I told myself even at an early age that if I had the ability to, I would pursue a career that I enjoyed. He would say if you can get paid to do what you like to do, then you have won. The idea of getting paid to make funny illustrations was too enticing not to give it a try. Read more>>
