Why they do what they do

We asked some of the city’s leading artists and creatives to tell us about how they decided to pursue an artistic or creative career. We’ve shared some highlights below.

I pursue an artistic career later in my life after working for over 20 years in the science field. I felt that was something that I needed to do both for myself but also to help others and contribute to society. I’ve always loved all types of art, and being creative has been my way to express myself to the world. Whether I was feeling happy, sad, or just wanting to make a change and impact using my art, I knew at a young age that a creative career was my future, and I began learning everything in various fields of art to be well rounded for any project. When I was little I was all about animals and wanting to be a Wildlife Biologist. I could name several facts about pretty much any animal.
