We had the good fortune of connecting with Luke Shay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luke, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
I grew up in Virginia Beach, which is where I got my start with DJ’n and making music. By the age of 21, I had DJ’d at every night club and bar that I was able to in my hometown. At that point, I started feeling the urge to do more—I was ready for a new challenge. I was working hard to learn music production, so I started sending my music to other producers. One of the producers being well known and respected in LA is named Cory Enemy, who has worked with countless major pop stars and to my surprise, he complimented my work and consistently started giving me incredible insight via email. This went on for a little while, but eventually, he asked me if i would be willing to move in with him to LA to further my production skills. One of the biggest decisions of my life was moving away from my entire family and friends to pursue my life long dream. Ultimately, this decision was the most important decision I have ever made. The guidance that Cory gave me had helped me grow as an artist; without him, I do not think I would be the producer that I am today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The most important factor leading to the success of my achievements is believing in myself and understanding what I have to offer as an artist. After all, nobody else will show up for you unlike yourself. If one approaches things in a matter where they cannot succeed, in most cases, one will not put in the effort as much as they should. Once you believe in an idea, it all comes down to your work ethic and self-discipline in order to get that idea to come fruition.

I hope that my music will leave an ever-lasting impression on its listeners and can help people find a sense of comfort and happiness. Getting feedback from people telling me my music has helped them through hard times during their lives is such an honor to hear. I hope my music will forever continue to speak to people and move them.

I am most proud of getting to where I am at today. As I have stated, I come from a small town and now have been granted opportunities to be able to DJ at some of the most prominent clubs in the world. I am also absolutely proud and still shocked to this day that I have obtained millions of listeners. The younger me who used to make music in my bedroom would not have imagined this! I am excited in further flourishing as an artist and the upcoming releases I am currently working on.
