We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Molin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?
Hippie Queen Artwork is about self-expression. Self-expression is shown through self-refection and being able to be honest with yourself. It is healthy to be self aware when dealing with emotions since we are around so many different stimuli. My business is pushing the ability to reflect and become more aware of self through art. I hope to build this platform that brings more people in to express thoughts and feelings through art just as I have found for my own art. As a public health professional and mental health advocate, I hope to impact individuals on finding healthy ways to express and allow a space for that expressionism.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I made a huge career change about four years ago where I decided to pursue my Masters in Public Health. I had realized over the years that my passion had been around wanting to help better people’s lives through community work. I wanted to improve the health and well-being of people around me. With the support of family and talking to many mentors I pushed through school. I took a leap of faith in this career change but each class showed me why it was the perfect career for me. I was going to work at 6:30am and getting home around 8pm after class but it was worth it. I had so much support and I enjoyed what I was learning that it was completely worth it. I was honored to get a position within my field after getting my Masters and now I have been focused on helping the health of communities since. Yet, I also have this hobby of painting that I loved. One of my favorite jobs that I had was working as an art teacher. I realized art helped me and my own mental health so I began looking into ways to share that part of me. In the process, I found myself building a business around helping people use art to express themselves and assist in their mental health. Over time the main lesson I have learned is that everything happens with purpose and at the right time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would take them to Wynwood for food and the art scene. In addition, I would take them to the beach and see the views of south Florida. I don’t have specific places outside of The Hideout Miami or the art walks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout God, family, friends, the art community, and supporters for inspiring me, pushing me, sharing my work, and providing opportunities to share my work. It means the world to me how much love an support I have had over the years.
