We had the good fortune of connecting with LAZARO SANCHEZ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LAZARO, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk always accompanies a fashion designer. Every time I work on a new collection my legs shake. There is always the risk that it will not be to the taste of the clients, unlike working with my clients, it is that you only have the pressure of only one person, although the risk is always present. This industry is full of tough decisions. As an immigrant, I had to make many difficult decisions. Leaving your family, friends and a country where you were born to venture into a dream of freedom. That’s what I call taking risks.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of the things that most defines me as a fashion designer is the way I build a dress. A piece of clothing should do more than just cover or dress. You must also shape the body. When I finish creating a piece and the lady puts on the dress and they look in the mirror… that moment is the best gift they can give me. It is the immense satisfaction you feel when you know that your work is what they expected. That is what distinguishes me from others, the technique I use so that my clothes can shape and highlight the figure of the woman.

One of the things I’m most proud of is looking back and seeing the path and obstacles I had to jump through to get to where I am now. It was not easy, being an immigrant and not being able to master the language perfectly and without being able to work on what I liked. But the road has not ended. I have many goals and aspirations. It is not always so easy to overcome problems. Sometimes they are even needed for many reasons that only the universe knows about. Self-esteem and willpower are forces that are always with me. Every day I give thanks for each person who puts me in my path, whether it is for better or for worse. I do not regret any decision I have made. Life and destiny are made up of all the decisions we make, even those that seemed insignificant at the time.

Every day life takes care of educating us. In my case I have learned that behind an action there is always a reaction. Never sacrifice quality for quantity. I have learned to wait, because everything always comes at the perfect time. Every time I find myself on a difficult path, I always think that in order to enjoy a rose, you always have to go through the thorns. I don’t want the world to know me as the most important fashion designer, there are already too many. I prefer that each woman feel the desire to buy a Lazaro Sanchez Couture dress for that special moment.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Miami is two magical cities in one. You have to enjoy Miami day and night. Yachting in the beautiful bay. Cross the causeway that connects the different islands. The tranquility offered by the breeze under a palm tree on any of our beaches. Our gastronomic proposals will allow you to enjoy authentic food from more than 60 countries without leaving Miami. But the nights are all glamor in any of our clubs. For me, one of the best views of Miami is the one that allows you to enjoy the different causeways when you are crossing from the city of Miami Beach to downtown Miami. The skyline of the downtown buildings with their colored lights gives you the illusion that the buildings are floating in the bay. I am very simple and spending time in that view with the person I love, my husband, is one of the most beautiful experiences that this city gives me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Anyone who encourages us to keep going deserves to be recognized. In my life I thank God that I have special people, among those people I have to highlight all my clients and the loyalty they have with Lazaro Sanchez Couture. I also want to thank the man who manages all my events, the love, support, understanding and fellowship I have with him every day, that man is Enrique Rivera, my husband.
