We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Sidaros and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, what is the most important factor behind your success?
When I think behind the scenes of my success, the most important factor simply is the dedication and passion I have for what I do. My passion has guided me through my career yearning to take risks and perfect my craft. When I created my brand, I wanted to ensure my clients could step into my salon and feel at peace. I’ve created an ambiance and a mood of tranquility enabling my clients to trust me, and my services knowing they will leave with a glow. I pride myself on the knowledge I have gained over the years. I try to not only educate my clients, but to further my education and training by learning new skills or techniques so I can consistently provide a high standard. It’s not only my job at Merakii Beauty Studio to provide the highest quality of work but to also recommend the best products/services that fit their lifestyles and needs.
What should our readers know about your business?
I define my business by the name itself, Merakii (may-rah-kee): To put something of yourself into your work– a labor of love. I grew up with a mother that worked in the beauty industry for over 20 years; seeing her dedication and how much she put herself into her work inspired me to do the same with my own talent. There is no doubt within this industry there is a continual “labor of love”
Opening up my salon was one of the hardest, yet the best decision I have made in my life. Throughout this journey, I have learned the beauty in fear is what makes you who you are, while continuing to push my limits amongst all the ups and downs. Someone once told me “We cannot fear change, for the only thing that does not change is the word itself”. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is, there is no right time to start; no matter when you do there will always be an obstacle standing in your way and it is up to you to get past it. Now that I have started, there is nothing that can get in my way.
My goal is to leave a mark on this industry, people will recognize my brand and the passion I put into my work. The most fulfilling part of my job is knowing I send every client home with a smile on their face. I want my clients, new and current, to know that I am dedicated to providing the highest level of service possible. I hope to take my knowledge and educate others on the importance of healthy beauty standards. Stick around to see the evolution of Merakii Beauty Studio because this is just the beginning.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Fort Lauderdale is constantly growing so there is always a new spot to check out. First stop would definitely be to check out the massive landmark Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Seeing how massive that guitar hotel is and all the great spots to eat, drink and have fun in there is incredible. It’s basically it’s own little world with everything you could possibly need., restaurants, bars, pool parties. Next stop, Yellow Green farmers market has such a wild variety of vendors to check out and try all the different foods, drinks and they even have live music and a great area to take your pets too. A stroll down Las Olas is always my favorite on the weekend after enjoying a yummy brunch by the riverside. No matter where you are this city has some of the most exciting spots to check out and enjoy with a friend.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my parents and sister. My family moved to this country and worked incredibly hard to overcome the many obstacles that were presented to us. My parents raised me to be smart, take risks and to live with passion. I am grateful for everything my father taught me about perseverance, and the sacrifices it takes to achieve your dreams. My talented mother has been my teacher, mentor, my best friend, and role model. Without her I wouldn’t have pushed myself to take this leap of faith going into business for myself and I truly wouldn’t be the woman I am today if it weren’t for her guidance. To my sister Amira, I thank you for being a big sister and for being my #1 cheerleader in every chapter of my life, you are my rock, my best friend and I love you.
It takes a village, and my village deserves all the credit in the world. I want to take this time to thank all the families and mentors who have taken me under their wing and guided me to be who I am today. Thank you to the Zimmermans, the Martins, the Nguyens, the Senebouttaraths and the Goldsteins, I would not be here without your support.
To Lynne, Lauren, Daniella and Joann thank you for all your love, support and encouragement showing me what I am capable of. And lastly a recognition to my friends and my clients that pushed me to take a leap of faith and recognize my talent to build my brand.
