Meet Lizzy Marlinga | Real Estate Broker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lizzy Marlinga and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lizzy, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I view risk as an exciting opportunity. Many times when I decided to make a risky life or career move it turned out to be the necessary step to get where I needed to be in order to grow. I never want to stay stagnant. I believe it’s important to evolve and when a new opportunity arises to seize it full force.
Others may view my choices as risky but I reply back with no one else can see my vision. I am determined to make my dreams a reality. With great risk comes great reward. The worst thing I could do is do nothing but expect a different outcome. Even if I don’t succeed at first, there is so much knowledge and insight that I learn from my failures. I don’t even view my failures as “failures” rather small road bumps throughout my journey. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without having many road bumps in my life. Those are when I learn the most and know how to handle it properly if it were to come up again.
When making decisions, I look at all the facts, decide on an action plan and don’t second guess myself. I trust my gut instinct and believe that you have to make risky decisions to truly elevate in life. I always tend to make my decision fast, you can only linger weighing the pros and cons for so long. Typically your first answer is the right answer.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a real estate broker and specialize in investment properties. I really enjoy meeting new people and showing first time investors that they are capable of making passive income. It’s always taking the first leap that can be the scariest but I assure them that I am here to help ease the anxiety. My clients appreciate how transparent I am. I tell them exactly how it is while also guiding them on the proper steps. I’m proud of my work ethic, being genuine and making sure I am available 24/7 for my clients.
I am excited to obtain my Florida Real Estate License and start helping clients in the market. Determination and patience is how I am in this position today. Many times I would hear people tell me to take the safe job where I have a set pay and know what my role is. However, I found that it’s okay to break the mold and be your own boss. When you believe in yourself, it pushes you to be the best version of yourself and be 1% better everyday.
Lessons I’ve learned while being in this industry are to have strong connections throughout a wide variety of industries. Referrals are everything in this business and at times if a client isn’t the right fit for a particular general contractor, lender etc. my network is able to save the deal by finding the appropriate match. Also, it’s okay to rely on your network.
Be an expert in your field, one doesn’t need to be an expert in every field – it’s simply not feasible. Lastly, always keep being your authentic self. People want to work with people they can relate to and trust.
Overall, I say be strong, confident and believe in yourself. Dream big and know you can achieve your dreams. Those who try to deter you just don’t see the vision and that’s ok but normally only you can fully see your vision.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would advise my friends to come to Miami during Art Deco week. There is always amazing live art and art shows to attend. The city really comes to life during Art Deco. We would stay at the W as the service is always 5 stars and we are close to the beach. I’m a big fan of physical activities and so are my friends! We would schedule an afternoon of deep sea fishing and scuba diving. Miami is best taken in when soaking up the sun and getting some much needed Vitamin D on a boat or at the beach.
When we go to the art show, we would start at Wynwood. Wynwood always has many options of art shows to see. For dinner, we will enjoy a delicious meal at Baoli. We will have some wagyu, which is my favorite.
The next day, the morning will start off by playing some tennis or golf. To replenish our appetite we will go to Nikki Beach for brunch, the waffles are made in house and are fresh and delicious! Afterward, we would head to the beach and find a volleyball pick up game and refresh by going swimming. The night will begin by going to Sea Spice for dinner. It has a beautiful outdoor eating area alongside the water where one can really take in the city.
Of course, we will experience the nightlife. It all comes down to the type of experience my friends are looking for. Miami has endless opportunities and new areas to explore!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shoutout to Jen, David, and my family. Jen has been a wonderful mentor for years and she always reminds me to be my authentic self and take those risky chances. She reminds me that life is short and life is about experiences. David has provided me with wonderful work opportunities in the golf world and believed in me. He always supplied me with all the tools and resources to succeed. Lastly, my family for unconditional love and support. I know they are always in my corner and even if they don’t fully see my vision, they know I am determined to make it happen.
Also shoutout to the book Psycho-Cybernetics written by Maxwell Maltz. This book was a huge eye opener and showed how powerful our thoughts are. I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about how our brain functions and how to create the life you want for yourself.
