We had the good fortune of connecting with Mario Magalhaes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mario, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking. Something that is known to each and everyone around the world from all walks of life. Each and everyday we are given choices to make that can lead us on entirely new paths. And with each choice comes a risk of success or failure. And even the failure could lead to success further down the road. For myself, I tend to try and at least be as calculated as possible in my risk taking though more often than not one must just take the leap of faith and plunge into the unknown to be able to reach and achieve certain goals that once seemed unattainable. And, again, we all go through these impasses throughout our lives though we must always remember the good old saying “you gotta risk it for the biscuit!”. Many of the opportunities that have presented themselves in my life were because of the risk and change I took on an idea or the pursuit of a dream of mine. I am a strong believer in chasing dreams and doing anything in my power to make them a reality as opposed to living what most would consider a mundane and “cookie cutter” lifestyle living in the proverbial “rat race”. We only have on life to live , and to be a little existential, it ends one day. So I wholeheartedly believe that’s it’s our duty to ourselves to make sure that we chase those dreams that may seem sky high but in reality it’s just the thought of unattainability that scares most off. So, in summary, life is all about going after your goals and, with that, comes points where you must take a risk betting on yourself and, trust me, always bet on yourself..
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
So I’ve been a part of a couple ventures already in life that have all led me to exactly where I need to be today. From nightlife event production, to being an automotive YouTuber, a travel agent, consultant, and restauranteur all at the same time. My philosophy in life is to have fun in the only life you’ve been given. So as I mentioned before I’m a firm believer in chasing dreams and goals. Having said that, I have to say that doors begin to open for you once you do start to chase those very dreams. From throwing parties in high school to then starting a production company with some of my best friends and having our own nights in some of the best venues in Miami with the help of friends I’ve made through my restaurant. To then producing automotive content on YouTube, again, with some of my best friends who share that same automotive passion which then led to producing automotive events bringing together the community many times also in a way to help and give back like after the west coast of Florida was battered by Hurricane Ian where we gathered the car community in Miami to collect donations which we personally distributed in the affected areas. Now, obviously this all sounds fun and believe me that it is amazing. Truly living the dream. Was it easy? No definitely not but, again, nothing in life truly is ever easy but it’s ALWAYS worth chasing your dreams. I think that the important lesson here is just to believe in yourself, and that’s the place to start. Chase your dreams, chase those goals, don’t settle for the proverbial rat race. It’ll be long nights, lack of sleep, etc etc etc but in the end , it’ll all be worthwhile.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well obviously I have to give my friends a tour of our amazing city. From Downtown/Brickell, Wynwood, South Beach, and Coral Cagbles. To be fair I’m not one to even comment on the cool spots anymore in the city because I’ve been so caught up in chasing the dream past couple years that even myself need to go out and get to know my city once more haha. Though, of course, a stop at Las Palmas Restaurant in Downtown Miami is OBVIOUSLY a must.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this all to my parents. Both of whom are just the hardest working people I know. Everything I have and everything that defines me is because of them. My Father was a man loved by many for his big heart always lending people a hand but also a man revered for going after his own dreams and goals. Someone that I live to still make proud because he was my best friend, someone who I dreamed one day to produce an event with or do something cool with because he was just the coolest guy. A man who brought people together in all of his ventures because that’s just the type of person he was and someone that I can only look up to and strive to be at least half as a great of a man as he was. My mother, someone who taught me how to be resilient in the face of trouble , someone who can drop anything at a moments notice to be at my side, someone who I just the best person in the world. I’m a lucky guy gotta say. Best parents a guy could ask for.
