Meet Emmanuel Daughtry | Teacher, Radio Promoter, Entrepreneur, & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emmanuel Daughtry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emmanuel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Anyone that knows me knows that I am project orientated. I am consistently coming up with different ideas and new ventures to try. It’s funny because each idea that I come up with are when I’m in the shower and I always think is the one to catapult my brand and/or financial status. Some have caught traction and some fell flat on the ground but I’m always giving new things a try. My business is simply one of those shower ideas that caught traction. With the help of my network and individuals shedding a light on my journey, my business/brand is flourishing and it’s just the beginning.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
OnTheSceneMedia LLC is a media conglomerate whose main purpose is to provide premiere digital content across various platforms. In the summer of 2023, you will see a flush of new content and and monthly in-person event catered to showcasing new talent in the tri-state area. Getting to this point where I can actually say that I have an official business wasn’t easy. It took years of ground work and figuring out exactly the lane where I fit best. My passion for media ever since high school is what kept me going. I could’ve stopped after college when I couldn’t find a solid job in my field. I could’ve stopped when the pandemic came and completely shut NYC down. I could’ve stopped when I started working full-time as a teacher. But it was the passion for media is what kept me in.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For years I’ve been trying to get my boys to appreciate the city. Even with all of its facets and the struggle it is to commute to and from, the city is a gem us Jersey natives take for granted. The time has finally come where everyone is more open to city trips and as of lately we’ve been in Brooklyn a lot. Thanks to TikTok, we’ve found dope spots in Manhattan to eat/drink like Taj Lounge or Sei Less. Two amazing spots with great food, music, and vibes. Kimito in Brooklyn is the place to be every Friday night with my fellow Hot97 native DJ Tim Trilla. If you go, tell him MannieOnTheScene sent you.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
At this point in my life, career, and business, I want to give a shoutout to myself and God. Every day I’m thankful for my mother and family and I wouldn’t be anywhere without them, but over the last few years it’s been all God and the work He’s doing through me. I left the nest in 2020 when I was 25 years old and it’s been full steam ahead. I’ve made mistakes and I’m sure I’ll make a lot more but the word that’s on my life at the moment is perseverance. I’d love to sit up here and say it was all because of a book or mentor and I do have both, but it’s been mainly trial and error with me figuring this thing called life out.
