Meet Travis Miller | Lead Vocalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Travis Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Travis, what are you inspired by?
Honestly when lyrical content really matches a song. I know lots of songs that have the most amazing instrumentals but lack creativity in the message. It’s like sure you have amazing riffs and you can’t rock out to it but, what are you trying to say. I often get inspired by every genre of music from metal to blues even hip hop. As long as the message is there.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One thing I love most about our music and what we do is how diverse our sound is. Most people, even us, consider us “hardcore”. However, we have so many different influences and sounds that come through in our music. Everything from Hardcore to Nu metal, metal core, deathcore, blues, alternative rock etc. it’s something we’re proud of. It’s a strength that I believe got us this far. As far as challenges we’ve faced. The only thing that comes to mind is the fact we’re all dads with 9 to 5 day jobs. So practicing and getting everyone together for a show can sometimes be a challenge. Because of this, we’ve all learned to accept one another’s needs and obligations to our families since every members family is like extensions of our own. What I hope people learn and come appreciate about our band and what we’re about is how badass of a show they’re going to get just by seeing our name on the bill. They can rest assured that if RIZE is playing, they’re getting their minds blown.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well first things first, we have to get some food. So day 1 we’re getting some breakfast at mckebs bagels then we’re headed to the beach. That evening we’re gonna get some dinner at Rocco’s tacos. Hopefully, there’s a good local metal show at respectable street or propaganda lake worth. Who knows, maybe RIZE is playing or some other amazing local bands we all love. The rest of the week will look a lot like that as well with a little karaoke in there somewhere. To be honest I’m not the most super creative guide when it comes to that so I’d rely heavily on my band mates for other fun activities.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a shout out to our families. Our wives, our parents, and our close friends. Without them early on, we would have been playing to almost no one.
