We had the good fortune of connecting with Samenta Joseph and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
run a retail company established in 2016. I launched and rebranded at the end of 2021, A trendy women’s fashion brand, Girl Avenue, LLC nice up to date quality pieces. We purchase items from wholesale distributors and manufacturers, the goal is to manufacture my own items. What sets me apart from other people that are doing what i’m doing is, simply me being me I’m in my own lane, I’m doing my own thing, I’m going with my own flow, at my own pace. I’m also big on quality hand picking the best textures and fabrics not just picking out any piece of clothing that’s available. I have a mixture of styles I select, from casual, street wear, formal, contemporary, boho chic etc. I look for the quality in the items I select to sell to my angels, also The levels I’m planning on taking my brand, for now I come off as a boutique but I will not stay with the image of “boutique”, I will be an online store, and really cool creative ideas are very much in store for Girl Avenue, that will begin to have others understand SHE DID NOT COME TO PLAY because I really did not!
I’m most proud of the fact that I pushed past my fears and stayed consistent trusting in God. I launched back in 2019 and gave up after 3 months I was unmotivated and just flat out did not want to do it no more at the time it was a lot happening in my life, but I was broken with that decision. This brand was in my heart on my mind for years mind you I’ve been established since 2016 paying for my LLC annual report every year not letting go of my dreams. When I got pregnant I said its time to really chase my dreams and go hard, it wasn’t easy getting through my own head and the doubts about being successful but the people around me reminding me throughout the years like “what’s up with girl avenue? you need to get back on it’’ just reminding me of what my dreams were reminding me that God is gonna do it he called me to be in this position, motivating me to get back up and make it happen. My biggest thing was inventory I believe that inventory is key I couldn’t get no one to invest into me I applied for many grants did not get accepted, applied for loans got denied, no one outside my group of family and friends believed in my vision. I cried, I was lost, depressed everything you can think of, I fought so hard to get people to see what Im trying to explain to them about how invested I was in girl avenue the only thing I never became was hopeless. I learned the vision was only for myself to see, to believe, to make happen and to stay consistent in, push through every hindrance and obstacle that came my way. My advice is Don’t ignore the times when you just need a break, but after that break get back out there and work towards your goals. I am super excited about the success ive experience so far in this business its still new to me so going from seeing $0.00 in sales daily, weekly, and monthly saying to GOD I know one day its gonna show differently I can’t wait for that day. I just begin to decree and declare that those number will change and when the day finally came I celebrated that one sale for the month but guess what It was a big accomplishment to me often times we forget that you start somewhere you don’t just start a business and become a millionaire unless you have a massive following on social media but you have to literally work your way up my biggest blessing was pop up shops I meet amazing women they get to see who I am meet me get a feel of my personality and the compliments on my items motivate me so much and It just confirms that im doing everything right I just need to go harder everyday. I have days where I am confident , lazy, determined, days where I have to literally force myself to wake up early to post content and come up with a caption and go back to take a nap and regroup for afternoon content. there are days when my content is planned everyday will be different but everyday taking a step towards doing something for your business is an accomplishment someone I met reminded me that its a marathon not a race and it was really conducive at the time it was said, because we tend to forget that were learning and growing everyday and the process is beautiful because you become grateful looking back at how far you’ve come. This is literally the beginning for me my brand is on the rise I know it and I can just feel it. I smile and rejoice at every purchase that was made even the things the angels DM makes me feel so amazing im in this for the long run and I cannot wait to be on billboards raw campaigns and seeing ladies walking around in
