We had the good fortune of connecting with Genevieve Dolan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Genevieve, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always been passionate about beauty and wellness, but it wasn’t until my mid 20s that I realized I could create the brand that I was looking for in the industry. I struggled with cystic acne and anxiety from a young age, and through talking with friends and seeing others online going through the same issues, I came to understand that I wasn’t as alone as I thought in this struggle! I had tried so many treatments and medicines that caused unwanted side effects, so I did the research within myself and the industry to help resolve my skin issues. As I learned more about nutrition, wellness and beauty, I found myself wanting to share this knowledge with my friends and family to aid in their own personal wellness journeys. Ultimately, I wanted to create a simple solution for complex skin issues.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I jumped around industries out of college until I decided to pursue my true passions of wellness and beauty. Throughout my own difficult skin experiences and wellness journey, I realized I wanted to extend the help I’ve given myself to other people. The skincare industry is saturated and it’s hard to know what’s best for you, so through extensive research I decided to figure out just that. I found that solutions for sensitive and combination skin types aren’t one-size-fits-all. There are plenty of brands that make those claims, but through personal experience I found otherwise. When I launched Vieve’s Leaves, I didn’t want to make marketing claims that I couldn’t actually back up. So Vieve’s Leaves is dedicated to providing formulas that actually work- ask our customers! It’s one thing when you love your brand, but when customers, friends and estheticians are on board, it’s an incredibly validating and energizing feeling, especially as a new brand!

I think one thing that sets me apart is that I’m not afraid to try something new. When I envisioned launching Vieve’s Leaves, I had a vision and didn’t think about any potential challenges until after I had already dove in head first. I’m a solutions-oriented person, so I focus on tackling any challenges we’re faced with and embracing the necessary pivots. Many lessons have been learned throughout this journey, but I think the one I’ve held on to is how important it is to feel connected to and supported by the people you work with. By prioritizing these kind of relationships with the people I work with internally and externally, I’ve built a team that is transparent, trustworthy and dedicated to the success of the brand.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in West Palm Beach, but I love visiting Miami Beach at least once a month. During the day, I work out of the Soho Beach House, and at night I love to go out and dance, especially at Eagle Room. My current favorite restaurant on the beach is Queen Miami, a Japanese-grill style restaurant built in the old Paris Theater. I haven’t been this impressed with ambiance, food and decor for a long time!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people I could thank! I’m lucky to have an awesome support system in my family. Their confidence in me motivates me to continue on this exciting, yet risky, entrepreneurial journey. My dad and my older brother, Danny have been incredibly supportive in both the growth of Vieve’s Leaves and my own personal growth. My dad is an entrepreneur in the financial industry, so he’s taught me how to bootleg this business and be resourceful, while Danny helps me run the day to day operations of the brand. With their guidance, I never feel alone in running my business. I’ve also got an amazing group of friends who hype up Vieve’s Leaves daily. Some of them are also female entrepreneurs & businesses owners, so it’s great to be able to share our experiences and learn from each other.
