We had the good fortune of connecting with Liseth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liseth, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We started our company in 2007. At the time the economy was fantastic. We were young and my husband had this amazing talent. It was a good time to risk it all and hope for the best. As long as you worked hard right, thats all it would take? Little did we know the housing market would crumble within a year and a recession was just around the corner. The first few years were the hardest but we stuck through it. By 2023 were already used to world pandemics, natural disasters, and all other curveballs that come with being a business owner.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my first company in 2006. My husband left the toxic work environment. Our goal was to create a place where people felt comfortable, open, and accepted. Where you felt more like you were coming into a friend’s place then a cold intimidating tattoo shop. We risked it all and invested everything we had but failed a year later. We made mistakes instead of staying with our local clientele we moved away. Instead of properly scouting locations we signed a lease on the first pretty place by the beach we found. Also the process of opening a business knowing nothing was so difficult, and delayed our opening for months, which did not help the situation. This failure taught me a lot and made us grow up quick. Its amazing what you can accomplish one you have nothing left. We moved on and opened the location in Miami, which has been in business since 2007. I started my second company years later, once the tattoo shop was finally running smoothly. I remembered back to the time when we were opening the first shop and how difficult it was. At the time the laws were different and it was much more difficult since you had to work under an MD or DMD. With everything I had learned in the industry I thought I could help make others lives easier and more knowledgeable. At first we were just giving trainings for the florida department of health to artists. But that later developed into consulting, helping people open their own businesses and obtain licenses. We work with the health department, schools throughout Florida, and private events and conventions. Our next most exciting event is the Allstars Tattoo Convention at the Dade County Fair and Expo.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I really enjoy holes in the wall and places that don’t have large crowds. Farming has brought me to live in homesteads and there are some gems out here not many know of. My favorite Mexican restaurant is Puerto Vallarta on 248 and us1. The redland market village also has amazing food on the weekends. Yambo Grill is amazing Fritanga. By the shop there is a supermarket called La Bodega that has the best chicharron EVER. And if we ever get out really late La Colina is amazing aswell. I guess my guests are eating a lot.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My amazing staff! I was lucky enough to find a group of people who not only get along but support and root for each other.
