We had the good fortune of connecting with Jen Ash and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jen, how do you think about risk?
It takes courage to make the 1st step . I left everything behind , travel to another country to follow my dreams. It was a big risk and it was scary but I have no regrets. Its was one of the best decision I have ever make . I believe if we put our fear aside everything is reachable . we are afraid of judgment and failure but it’s inevitable and once you make peace with it and embraces the lessons and the evolution taking risk becomes an adventure . It is fun and exciting . Most of the time. we need to change the way we look at things and try to stay positive by seeing the bigger picture .

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Music , what would be a world without music . I’m gifted with a soulful voice and I needed to follow my purpose and share it to the world . I do what I do to connect and inspire people . I want to be a part of their daily lives . Be with them for the good and the bad moments through my music . It wasn’t easy at first . I stop my professional basketball career and moved to California . I was alone and lost for a time . I made de mistake to listen too much about what people have to say . They were criticizing my accent , the way I speak , the way I write and sing . I tried too much to fit and I was wrong . I’ve learn to embrace my story , to embrace my diversity and my origins . It makes me unique and different . The big lesson was to stay true to myself to be real and embrace my vulnerability.. My journey was difficult and some days is still is but when you are passionate about your art and you wake up everyday loving what you do the hardship only makes you stronger .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles has a lot of nice place to visit . I mean. you have to go to the Hollywood sign and Hollywood boulevard , Griffith park , I would definitely take them to my favorite beach : 1000 steps in Laguna . It is absolutely gorgeous . I love “the last Book Store” Downtown LA . Definitely going for a walk in Venice beach and Santa Monica on a Sunday. Universal Studio Park and Disney Land are my two favorites things to visit in town . You forget who you are for a day and just enjoy the Magic !!! I would spend a day in San Diego as well , Visit Old town Market and eat in Little Italy .

Food and restaurant in LA . I have so many favorites the list is very long .
“Swingers Cafe ” is an iconic Diner , I love Bacari restaurant the food is excellent and they are serving the best espresso martini’s , Yamashiro for the amazing view , Griddle cafe for breakfast with their Giant amazing pancakes , Teronni if I’m craving Italian food , Elephante Santa Monica has an amazing beach view .
