We had the good fortune of connecting with Thelma Delgado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thelma, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
What makes me happy? Many things make me happy, but I will tell you 2, the most important ones. Being a mother of 3 makes me very happy. I can say it is the most important thing that has ever happened to me. The second one is to Create. I am an artistic creator in many medias. I have been painting for 20 years and my paintings have been exhibited in Spain, Switzerland, France. and USA where I live. I am an author; I have released 2 books; poetry, poetic prose and short stories. among other things, I love to flip furniture; it is fascinating to turn an ugly piece into an extraordinary work of art.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started painting over 20 years ago as a hobby. I am self thought artist. One day, when I felt somewhat confident I ventured to put one of my paintings in an exhibition in Miami, FL , specifically in Coconut Grove, and later, on Calle 8 in different galleries. The rest is history. My paintings made it to Spain, Switzerland and France. People remember me for my paintings of female nude torsos. “Las Lolas” were the talk of the town lol. . Bright bold colors are always present in my pieces. I will say that my patience and perseverance have been fundamental to succeed. As an artist I think one never reaches the top of the hill, on the contrary, once I reach a goal, then I embark myself in the next challenge. To learn another technique, to use other materials. As an author, I can say I feel “free” when I write. and then again, it is a continuous learning. I write mostly in Spanish, although I have written some poems in English too. And this journey has taken me to the Library of Congress in 2019 and to UN this past month of May. I am a member of the Academia Norteamericana de Literatura Moderna International (International Academy of Modern Literature) “I live life to the fullest and express it thru my art”
