We had the good fortune of connecting with Alison Kay Bowles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alison Kay, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
This is a tough one- I’m a workaholic for sure. Not to mention we also live in the most fast-paced, work-centric society in the world. I have a hard time with feeling guilty when I am not working. I have learned to let myself have days off, rest days, and time to enjoy life. We have to refill our cup before we can pour out again!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Apart from my personal brand and travel blog wanderinheels.com, I also own a digital marketing agency, Uprise Marketing. What sets us apart is that we care deeply about helping out clients fulfil their dreams of starting a brand and watching their brand grow and flourish. It was not easy to start my own business- but when you are passionate about something and you are pursuing your purpose, anything is possible. You have to want it, and want it bad. There will always be someone to replace you, someone who works harder than you. You have to work hard and want it more!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love a boujee little morning at the Dior cafe, sipping Dior latte’s and eating croissants. I also really love the aesthetic of the Vizcaya Museum and shopping at the Design District!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To my closest friends- it’s so important to have a girl squad as women that are just as driven and are willing to support and encourage one another! I am so grateful to have an incredible circle of hard working boss women!
