Meet Bo Sebastian | clinical hypnotherapist & author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bo Sebastian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bo, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I never liked working for someone else. Though I have, I felt like the flexibility and ability to create a thriving business was in my bones.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
For most of my professional life, I’ve worked at the intersection of psychology, spirituality, healing, communication, and performance. I’m a clinical hypnotherapist, speaker, author, actor, singer, and content creator based in South Florida, and for more than three decades I’ve helped people work through stress, anxiety, trauma, confidence issues, and personal transformation.
What sets me apart is that I don’t approach people as problems to fix. I approach them as human beings trying to reconnect with themselves beneath fear, overthinking, and emotional overwhelm. My work combines practical psychology, hypnosis, mindfulness, and deeper conversations about awareness and consciousness in a way that feels accessible and real to everyday people.
I’m probably most proud of the fact that I never stopped reinventing myself, even during difficult seasons. Over the last several years, I went through multiple spinal surgeries after serious car accidents, lost close family members, and had to rebuild parts of my life emotionally, physically, and professionally. At the same time, I continued writing books, creating videos, speaking, helping clients, and finding new ways to share what I’ve learned.
None of my journey has been easy. Like many people, I’ve faced fear, uncertainty, financial stress, rejection, grief, and moments where I questioned everything. But one of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that growth rarely happens during comfort. Some of the hardest moments in life become the doorway to clarity, compassion, creativity, and purpose if you’re willing to keep moving forward.
Professionally, I got where I am through persistence, curiosity, and a genuine love for helping people. I’ve spent decades studying human behavior, spirituality, healing, communication, performance, and personal development, but the greatest education came from life itself—through loss, healing, relationships, recovery, and learning how to rebuild after adversity.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that the human mind can either imprison us in repetitive fear and stress or help guide us toward peace, awareness, and transformation. That realization became the foundation of much of my work and writing.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I believe people are far more powerful than they think they are. I believe healing is possible. I believe peace is possible. I believe awareness changes lives. My goal is not simply to motivate people temporarily, but to help them reconnect with a calmer, clearer, more authentic version of themselves.
At this stage of my life, I’m less interested in image and more interested in impact. If my work helps someone suffer less, feel more hopeful, reconnect with themselves, or realize they’re not alone, then I feel I’m doing exactly what I was meant to do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
f my best friend came to visit me in Fort Lauderdale for a week, I’d want the trip to feel like a mix of tropical escape, soulful conversation, amazing food, music, nature, and a little bit of glamour without trying too hard. South Florida has a way of feeling both peaceful and alive at the same time, and I’d want them to experience all sides of it.
The first thing we’d probably do is head to Las Olas Boulevard. That’s one of the hearts of Fort Lauderdale. We’d walk the shops, stop for coffee, maybe sit outside somewhere and people-watch for a while. At night, Las Olas completely changes personality—great restaurants, live music, outdoor dining, and that warm Florida air that makes you feel like you’re permanently on vacation.
For food, I’d definitely take them to some of my favorite waterfront places because Fort Lauderdale is all about the water. One night would be dinner on the Intracoastal where boats glide by while you eat. Another day we’d do a relaxed brunch near the beach. South Florida has incredible diversity in its food scene, so throughout the week they’d experience everything from fresh seafood to authentic Italian, Asian fusion, Cuban food, and healthy tropical cafés.
I’d absolutely take them to Fort Lauderdale Beach at sunrise at least once. Most tourists only see the nightlife, but the mornings here are magical. Watching the sun come up over the Atlantic while people walk, meditate, bike, or quietly drink coffee is one of the most peaceful experiences in the city.
We’d also spend a day on the water. Maybe a boat ride through the canals, which is why people call Fort Lauderdale the “Venice of America.” Some of the homes and yachts are unbelievable, but the beauty is really in the atmosphere—the palms, the bridges, the reflections on the water, the feeling that life slows down a little.
At some point during the week, I’d probably drive them down A1A toward Hollywood Beach or up toward Boca Raton just to show them how beautiful the coastline is here. South Florida is really a collection of different moods and personalities all connected by ocean air.
I’d also want them to experience some of the more soulful and creative sides of the area. Maybe live music one night, a piano bar, an outdoor art festival, or one of the little tucked-away places where locals gather and conversations last for hours. Some of the most interesting people in South Florida are the ones you randomly meet—artists, entrepreneurs, healers, retired New Yorkers reinventing themselves, musicians, travelers, people who came here to start over.
And honestly, one of my favorite things to do with close friends is something simple: sitting outside at night near the water talking about life. South Florida is beautiful, but what really makes it special is the feeling of openness. People come here carrying stories, losses, dreams, reinventions, and second chances.
If someone spent a week with me here, I’d want them to leave feeling rested, inspired, emotionally lighter, well-fed, sun-kissed, and reminded that life can still feel exciting and beautiful no matter what age or stage you’re in.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
