Meet Christopher Persaud | Father & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Persaud and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christopher, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I have 1 child, a daughter, and the most important thing I’ve ever done is just sacrifice my time. I know it sounds dumb, but our children are so important not just to my future, but to anyone who has kids, their future as well. In the end, our children are all we have. We can’t expect our kids to sacrifice for us unless we sacrifice for them. Being there for them and providing all the things that are necessary for them to grow in a healthy way making them strong. So I’ve sacrificed a lot of opportunities while opening up new and different opportunities along the way, and with my faith in God, things have just worked out. It was hard to stay positive sometimes but God always had a plan, I just had to be patient. Eventually some amazing things would fall together because believe it or not, our children attract some pretty divine blessings. When outsiders see you being selfish and not thinking of your children, or sacrificing for them, it turns people off. So giving up your time and truly loving your kids will go a long way. Good people resonate with that.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Over the years, I would produce, write lyrics, or engineer different types of music from hip-hop, to edm, reggae, reggaeton, or dancehall. Other artists would hear my music getting played, then would want to collaborate. They’d also see that I was very fluent and experienced with computers and would want me to optimize or troubleshoot their studio setups. I guess that is what sets me apart, because not a lot of artists can really dive in-depth into the computer world and still be fluent with music. I understand how things work in a special way and I am always having new ideas. Some of the things I am most proud or excited about was my song “Under The Lights” being played in Australia by DJ Ragz on their reggae station 5EBi FM which was voted on and went #1 on the charts for 10 months. Then that same song also got picked up by Pitbulls Globalization on the Tropical Takeover show hosted by DJ Anarchy. Other stations and platforms also picked it up. It’s definitely not easy and you always have to think outside the box and innovate. Even though overlooked sometimes, it’s rare that an artist will ever produce, write, voice, and engineer their own track, let alone direct the video and do all the 3D editing themselves and have it get picked up. The creative and technical aspects blended together. Overcoming those challenges would sometimes come from gaining inspiration from others, or just by meditating on certain things, trying things that would fail and learning from those failures. Some of the major lessons that I learned were to never stop, don’t give up, stay vigilant and don’t be so quick to tell certain people your ideas. I would see much bigger artists or producers who were more connected than I was, take ideas and execute them on another level, so I would definitely tell others to keep your ideas to yourself and execute them in a big way. Have confidence in yourself as well. If there’s anything I would want the world to know about my story is that I was highly doubted, put down, dragged through the mud, stolen from, ridiculed but I still prevailed and prospered more than some of those who were expected to make it. I don’t even think I’m suppose to be here but I am, and anyone can be here too. Rejection can be a lot more powerful than acceptance.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them to the beach or out on the water, jet-skiing, now they have jet boats over here… indoor sky diving, K1 go-carts, any of the Orlando theme parks and the Keys, renting a property on the ocean. Music festivals are great, Ultra or The 9 Mile Reggae Music Festival. To eat I’m not that picky, I actually like checking out new places. Bayside has a nice atmosphere, or Wynwood. Right now I have a thing for Bolay, food is just so good and healthier than alot of other the options out there that I like. White rice, asian noodles, broccoli, potatoes, chicken teriyaki and a soda is my favorite thing on the menu at the moment.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes there a couple people that I definitely have to recognize along the way have impacted my life which paved the way to where I am today. My mother, Donna, first of all for giving me life, Paul Ramdial, my uncle who is a pilot for United Airlines, and Rohan Persaud who was the owner of Sounds Distribution which specialized in distributing deejay & sound equipment in Canada, for both fueling my hunger for music by providing me with my first pieces of gear to help me deejay and explore the music world. My best friend Robert Ramsaran, who I can always count on to just be there for me. Neville Chung who is the father to Daniel Chung, one of my best mans from my first marriage, who would let me tinker with different computer parts in his garage when I was a child, which led me to build my first computer. Joe Risolia who was a sales manager at Ultra Music Festival Miami who provided me with my first new laptop to dive into editing and got me a gig with Ultra in sales and deejaying. Wayne “The Brain” Allison who was Diddy’s and Scott Storch’s main engineer during the peak of their successes, who has a disgusting amount of hits and credentials under his belt, engineering hits like “Lean Back” for Fat Joe, “Run It” for Chris Brown, and “Baby Boy” for Beyonce & Sean Paul, just to name a few… He brought me into a lot of studio sessions to assist with mixing records which really helped me understand the reality of the music industry behind the scenes. He never brought me in as an intern and he always said that. He really wanted me to be somebody and it changed my life, so I greatly appreciate that. I would also like to shoutout Pete Warner who was always there to give me some great advise, he also co-wrote “Sweet Heart” with Rainy Davis, which was picked up and performed by Mariah Carey and Jermaine Dupri, but his affiliation goes way beyond that, he just has a lot of great insider knowledge of the inner workings of the entertainment industry and is a great person to have in your corner. Lastly and lately, my brother Rvssian, who connected me with a lot of musicians/clients, some of which I consider friends…He has grown to be one of the most successful producers I know, who produced artists like Vybz Kartel, Shaggy, Bad Bunny, Kevin Gates, Skeng, Shenseea, Nicky Jam, Cardi B, Post Malone, French Montana, Rauw Alejandro, Farruko, Anuel AA and the list just goes on…
