We had the good fortune of connecting with Marc Lupo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marc, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The key to my success in the entertainment industry lies in the long-lasting relationships I’ve built, grounded in mutual respect, trust, and kindness. As they say, it’s all about who you know in this “relationships business,” my journey started with exciting internships at ABC’s LIVE with Regis and Kelly and The Montel Williams Show. These opportunities allowed me to connect with like-minded individuals who later became crucial in landing me gigs with iconic brands like The Tyra Banks Show, The Wendy Williams Show, Us Weekly, iHeart Radio, and The Tamron Hall Show.

These professional connections have developed into deep and meaningful friendships over the years. My industry colleagues and friends have become my unwavering support system, always ready with invaluable personal and professional advice, guidance, and motivation. Building strong ties with celebrity publicists, talent managers, and other industry pros has expanded my horizons beyond imagination. Thanks to these connections, I’ve been part of incredible experiences like covering The Met Gala red carpet, appearing in several docuseries, co-hosting a podcast for iHeart Radio, working alongside First Lady Michelle Obama, and being nominated for an Emmy Award.

Strong and genuine relationships have been the foundation of my success in the ever-changing and competitive entertainment landscape. Navigating the industry confidently, I’ve grown personally and professionally, and I’m passionate about helping others do the same. Building and nurturing these connections has been the cornerstone of my achievements, opening doors to life-changing opportunities that have shaped my extraordinary journey in entertainment.
But let’s not forget the heart of it all—storytelling. In this industry, we create a unique bond with our audience, asking for their most precious commodity—their time. While I invest in my relationships with colleagues, I also recognize the significance of understanding the audience and producing content that resonates with their needs and desires. The entertainment business is undergoing a critical transformation, with audiences flooded with options—linear TV, streaming, podcasts, social media, and more. That’s why building a meaningful connection between your brand and those tuning in is crucial as we navigate the unknown together. I hope to continue to make waves, have fun, and create unforgettable moments that leave a lasting impact on the industry and our audience’s hearts.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
From a young age, I’ve been drawn to the idea that my work can offer others an escape from life’s pressures, especially during challenging times when people seek solace and respite. Pop culture has always been my source of escape and relaxation, and I am fortunate that my passions and how I make money have always intersected.

I’ve grown as a writer, producer, interviewer, and host throughout my career. I’ve conducted hundreds of interviews with celebrities, including Helen Mirren, Hugh Jackman, Natalie Portman, Kristen Bell, Zac Efron, Charlie Sheen, Mandy Moore, Lamar Odom, and Laura Dern.
As an entertainment reporter, I’ve covered Hollywood’s biggest events, including The Grammys, Met Gala, MTV’s Video Music Awards, VH1’s Trail Blazer Honors, and Variety’s Women of Power luncheon. I was even in attendance when Cardi B threw her shoe at Nicki Minaj during an NYFW event at The Plaza Hotel.

As a supervising producer and on-air contributor, I had the opportunity to work on Us Weekly-produced specials like “Luke Perry: In His Own Words” on The Reelz Channel in spring 2019 and “College Admissions Scandal: Varsity Blues” in Winter 2020.
Embracing new challenges, I made appearances as a contributor on Access Hollywood. I also ventured into podcasting, co-hosting the weekly iHeart Radio show “Naughty, But Nice with Rob Shuter.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Harlem and love taking in a concert or a show at the legendary Apollo Theater. It’s cool to live in a neighborhood with such rich history. I live blocks away from Central Park and spend a lot of time walking through the park or sitting on one of its benches reading a book or listening to music.

A day spent shopping in SoHo is tried and true for me. I love wandering the streets and checking out the latest trends. I also love a night out barhopping in Hell’s Kitchen. There’s no shortage of fun to be had.

Rooftop drinks are a must in NYC .. especially in the spring and summer. I love visiting the Skylark, Restoration Hardware & the Soho House.

Riding on the subway is the most efficient and cost-effective way to navigate NYC. You never know what or who you’ll encounter on your adventure. Admittedly – I hail a taxi when traveling late at night – I value peace now and again.

The West Village is very charming, and I love having dinner outside and people-watching. If you visit NYC and don’t people-watch – you are truly missing out. Some of my favorite restaurants include Cecconi’s dumbo and Fumo in Harlem.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am deeply grateful to the incredible people who have played a significant role in my journey and success. First and foremost, my parents and brother’s unwavering support, sacrifices, and belief in my dreams have been my rock as I pursued my passion for media and entertainment. My extended family, especially my late grandfather, James Miaritis, who immigrated from Greece, has been a tremendous source of inspiration, showing me that the American dream is attainable through hard work and a positive attitude.

To my friends turned family from The Wendy Williams Show, thank you for transforming my life with your friendship and support. You’ve had such a profound impact on my life, and our wild years in NYC will be something I’ll always appreciate.

Lastly, thank you to the audiences at home for supporting the projects I’ve worked on, from the shows I’ve produced to the articles I’ve written and the interviews I’ve appeared in. It’s an honor to entertain and inspire you, and I hope to continue doing so for many more years to come.
