We had the good fortune of connecting with Tesha Allison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tesha, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from Jamaica, a place that holds the struggles and the dreams that have shaped who I am today. My background and upbringing have been integral in shaping my journey of resilience and determination. Growing up in poverty, I faced numerous challenges that tested my strength and resolve. At one point, I even lived in an abandoned bakery, facing the harsh reality of not having a stable home. During that time, some neighbors cruelly called me “rat,” a painful reminder of the adversity I endured. It wasnt uncommon for me to go to bed without a meal or a meal of crackers and tea.

However, these hardships also instilled in me a deep sense of tenacity and a burning desire to break free from my limitations. Becoming a mother at the tender age of 15 added another complexity to my journey. While it presented its own challenges, it also ignited an unwavering drive to create a better life for myself and my child. My background taught me the importance of perseverance and resourcefulness, pushing me to pursue higher education despite financial struggles.

Overcoming bankruptcy during my law school years and losing my mother-in-law just days before my bar exam were defining moments that tested my resilience. These experiences taught me that adversity can break or make us stronger. I chose to let them make me stronger.

From those challenging circumstances, I found my true calling—empowering others to overcome their hurdles and embrace their authentic selves. My background and upbringing have gifted me with empathy and compassion, fueling my commitment to advocate for marginalized communities and uplift those in need.
As an attorney, author, mindset changer, wealth builder, and guru, I stand as a testament to the transformative power of hope and determination. My journey reminds me daily of the incredible possibilities that emerge when we refuse to be defined by our circumstances.

My roots in Jamaica and the lessons learned along the way have molded me into a woman who cherishes authenticity, embraces vulnerability, and believes in the boundless potential within each of us. With immense pride, I share my story, hoping it will resonate with others, inspiring them to break free from their shells and embrace their remarkable journey of growth and success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is my unyielding commitment to empowering individuals to break free from self-imposed limitations and embrace their true potential. I am not just an attorney or an author; I advocate for personal growth, mindset change, and empowerment. What I am most proud of is my work’s positive impact on countless lives. Seeing individuals transform their lives, unlock their potential, and create their paths to success fills me with immense joy and fulfillment. Witnessing the transformative power of hope and determination in action is a privilege.

Getting to where I am today professionally was challenging, even more so than the average person. My journey was far from easy, and I faced numerous obstacles. Overcoming financial struggles, navigating bankruptcy during law school, and enduring losing a loved one before my bar exam were defining moments that tested my resilience. I also gave birth summer while I was in law school. I was pregnant for all of my law school experience.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I am more than just a success story. I am a testament to the transformative power of hope, determination, and unwavering belief in oneself. My journey is a testament to the boundless potential within each of us, and I want to inspire others to embrace their uniqueness and write their stories of empowerment and success.

Moreover, one of the most extraordinary aspects of my journey is that I achieved all this while giving birth to and raising eight beautiful children. Motherhood has been my greatest blessing and motivator and an integral part of my personal growth and professional success.

Balancing the responsibilities of being a mother of eight while pursuing my dreams and career was undoubtedly challenging. But it was precisely through this role that I discovered the depths of my strength and capacity to multitask, prioritize, and persevere. My children have inspired me daily, reminding me that anything is possible with love, determination, and unwavering support.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I prefer to explore the hidden gems and less crowded areas of Miami. I enjoy taking them to more intimate settings to immerse ourselves in the local culture and create meaningful experiences.

I’d opt for cozy cafes and restaurants tucked away from the hustle and bustle, where we can savor delicious meals and engage in unhurried conversations. Exploring neighborhoods like Little Havana and Wynwood, known for their unique and artsy vibes, would be a priority, as they offer a glimpse into the heart of Miami’s diverse and vibrant culture.

To escape the crowds and embrace nature, we’d spend time in the beautiful parks and waterfront areas, like Matheson Hammock Park and Key Biscayne, where we can enjoy the tranquility and soak in the natural beauty. A visit to Everglades National Park would also be a highlight, offering an opportunity to appreciate the untouched wilderness of Florida.

For entertainment, I’d lean towards smaller live performances or local events that showcase Miami’s talent and creativity. Whether it’s catching a live music show at a cozy lounge or attending an art exhibition in a lesser-known gallery, we’d embrace the intimacy of the experience.

Whether it’s wandering through local markets, stumbling upon vibrant street performances, or stumbling upon a charming art exhibit in a quaint gallery, we’d seize every opportunity to delve into the heart of Miami’s culture. By leaving room for serendipitous adventures, we’d uncover the city’s best-kept secrets and make memorable discoveries.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! Several individuals, groups, and resources deserve a special shoutout and recognition in my journey. First and foremost, I want to dedicate this shoutout to my children, who have been my greatest motivation and source of strength throughout my life. Their unwavering support and belief in me have been instrumental in overcoming challenges and pursuing my dreams.

I also owe immense gratitude to my few close-knit friends and family, who have supported, encouraged, and loved me during the most trying times. Their belief in my potential and their constant cheerleading have kept me going, even when the path seemed uncertain.

Last but not least, my spirituality which been an anchor of strength and guidance throughout my journey.
