We had the good fortune of connecting with Allan Hendricks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allan, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
I think Integrity would have to top the list of guiding principles for me. I’m pretty sure that covers a bunch of principles I try to stay true to. Honesty, discipline. perseverance; I believe those are building blocks of Integrity.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Pride Tribe Inc. DBA The Connie House ALF (LGBT) is the only Assisted Living Facility that is LGBT+ Centric in the Southeast region of the United States. You read that right. We’re a small (6 beds) residential style Assessed Living Facility and no it was not easy to do. The elder care industry is highly regulated and there are land mines everywhere. Where we go from here? Well, we shall see. There is plenty of room for growth and Pride Tribe is a trusted brand that will take us there. The LGBT Community has been working on developing services and housing options for years. This effort marks the beginning of making all of that happen.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh goodness. When I have friends visit, I try to show them the very best of Palm Beach County. We visit the beaches of course. Jupiter or Delray Beach are always favorites. Dining along the Jupiter inlet, across from the lighthouse is always a treat, so we pop into Jetty’s. Boston’s in Delray of course. Everyone must spend some time on Fabled Palm Beach Island. The Meat market for dinner. The Breakers for brunch. A tour of my hometown / downtown is always a must. Lunch at Bradley’s or the 500 Block is a must. Dinner at Pistache never fails to please. I love showing off our downtown and talking about our history. depending on the time of year, Roger Dean Stadium for a game. The Kravis or Lake Worth Playhouse for a show. Potentially the Wick in Boca Raton. There are lots of great dining options in Boca Raton, so a tour of the greats and again a little history lesson. For dancing and late night fun, it’s always Downtown West Palm Beach and Clematis.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh where to start? This whole project / concept  would not have happened without a great deal of support from the LGBT+ Community. I guess we’ll start with all of the Religious Right Propogandist who made me mad enough to raise my hand and Volunteer with Equality Florida. Surely I can thank Nadine Smith and Stratton Pollitzer for years of training and support in our common cause for Equal Rights and Equal Dignity for the LGBT+ Community. There are so many in the community and our beloved allies, I can’t list them all here. My best friend Annette Gray who gave me the idea and encouragement to build this. Honestly, there have been so many times the universe has kept the wind in my sails, through people who lend support, just at the right time. We owe a great debt of gratitude to our trail blazers who brought us to this day. At the end of the day, this is for them.
