We had the good fortune of connecting with Beverly (Bev) Dameron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Beverly (Bev), why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Great question … art was always an interest but I needed a nudge. Over twenty years ago I took a voice acting workshop. It was intense and you preformed instinctively 100% of the time. The instructor told the class “I’m going to flip you to the right side of your brain. So be prepared for changes.” That was an understatement! At the end of the workshop the instructor said I had made good progress and she hoped I would continue with the next workshop. I instantly knew and told her I was going to become a full time painter/artist. It was what I should have always been doing. I went home that night, retrieved all the cans of house paint (only paint I had at the time) from the garage and painted a scene on my china cabinet! From that time since I began & continue to develop my art. There is no limit to the imagination, challenge and joy it brings me and hopefully my clients.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I capture memories with paint. Getting to know a client and capturing something special to them (place, vacation, pet, etc) is exciting to me. Together we create their masterpiece. I like color, vivid color. Color can alter your mood and even manipulate your thoughts … it’s a language. Blue might make you calm or remember being at the beach. When someone says ‘it’s a golden opportunity” or “green with envy” you instantly understand. I’m constantly exploring the language of color in my paintings. I’m still getting there and I love the journey. Keep learning, listening and observing!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To me Miami means going to Versailles for Cuban food and cafe’ con leche, Joe’s Stone Crab, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, Fairchild Gardens, Wynwood Walls and Perez Museum. In Fort Lauderdale I would be sure to spend time on the beach (beautiful & easy to get to)! Then The Bonnet House (Museum & Gardens), NSU Art Museum. Restaurants would include Floridian or Lesters for breakfast but open 24/7, Shooters Waterfront, Southport Raw Bar, Canyons Southwest Cafe and Secret Garden at Pillars Hotel.
