Meet Beatriz Palma-Zevallos | Nurse Practioner & Aesthetic Trainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Beatriz Palma-Zevallos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Beatriz, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, a beautiful beach city full of energy and happiness. My parents taught me that the best gift I would ever receive was my education. I grew up in a loving family and always had the support of my loved ones. I was lucky enough to go to an American school where I learned English as my second language. After high school, I decided to go to medical school and graduated as a physician and surgeon in 2004. Looking back, these small milestones have allowed me to establish a career as a family nurse practitioner and aesthetic trainer here in the US. My upbringing always gave me confidence and trust that I could accomplish what I wanted to. Having a medical background and a firm handle of the English language helped me achieve my goals a lot faster. It has truly been an incredible journey and I see the bits and pieces of my life put together now with MY own family, my own business and a career that I love.

What should our readers know about your business?
My medical practice is called Biostetix, an Anti-aging clinic located in Aventura. It has been a lifelong goal to open my own practice, something that was finally fulfilled May of 2023. It’s been 12 years in the making and it hasn’t been easy, but looking back, I needed those 12 years of experience, of education and learning, of business management and building relationships, to set me up to be a successful entrepreneur. I think the two hardest challenges are overcoming self-doubt and timing. It is hard to believe that you can make it on your own because there are so many challenges to a start up, but with good planning, timely opportunities and sheer faith, I was able to take the risk and it has been so rewarding.

Biostetix is a brand where health and beauty are viewed as inseparable, they are one. I like to say that beauty begins from within, meaning, your outer shine starts with optimal health and wellness on the inside. At Biostetix, we understand that each client views themselves in a certain light. They have unique needs and health goals. It’s my job to have sincere, thoughtful conversations with them about what is driving their personal health and beauty objectives. To understand where they want to go with their aesthetic treatments and then provide a personalized plan for getting them there. Ultimately, I am not just a clinical practitioner, but an educator and a counselor to my patients. Giving them the tools and knowledge to optimize their body to their full capacity through a healthy lifestyle, nutrition, metabolic health, brain health and of course, matching that with personal good looks. I want people to feel confident and not be ashamed of wanting to look better because of what others say or think. Looking in the mirror and seeing a version of yourself that matches how you feel on the inside can change your life! And that’s what Biostetix is all about… changing lives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
These days as a business owner and mom I don’t go out as much, but when I do I love to visit Midtown and Wynwood and try new restaurants and roof tops, one of my favorites is Salvaje. Of course, you can’t be in Miami without a little shopping. My favorite mall is the Aventura Mall where you can find a little bit of everything. My two favorite brunch places there are Pani and Motek. If I need a breath of fresh air, we drive up to Las Olas Boulevard and walk to the beach for a nice day out. Staycations are a family staple. I love Tidal Cove water park for a nice pool day and The B Hotel in Fort Lauderdale for a beach weekend getaway.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest shoutout is to my loving husband who has always supported me and pushed me to take risks and to change my mindset about becoming an entrepreneur. But I would be remiss in not recognizing all the physicians and professional mentors that have taught me so much along the way. As well as my parents and friends who have been there for me during the good and difficult times. Thank you to all who made me who I am today.
