We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Luv and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christopher, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important part of my success was the ability to keep going. Life/success is about learning from your mistakes/shortcomings and improving on them the next time around. As a musician, when I first began there were definitely moments where I didn’t have all the tools necessary to succeed but the only way I could learn that is by going through those “failures” and readjusting as needed.

For anyone trying to succeed, I would say the best way to do is with a community of people with similar interests. No one makes it to the top alone

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Christopher Luv, I’m a 26 year old singer/songwriter from Miami Florida. I started playing music around age 11, and have played in various bands and projects throughout my 15 year music career. I would consider my sound a mix soft rock, reggae, and a bit of hiphop. At the moment, I have a few songs out on streaming platforms and gig weekly throughout the South Florida area.

My music career really started to take off in 2021 when I began playing and performing as a solo artist. For about two years (2021-2022), I would say I went out to 3-4 open mics a week and learned what it meant to play in live environment and network with my fellow musicians. I slowly started playing paying gigs as the time went on. Whether it was one or two shows a months, I was happy with the progress I was making. Consistency was the name of the game and it was beautiful to experience to see a gradual progression instead of an overnight success. I am a point now (2024) in my career where I’m averaging around 3-6 paying shows a week at legendary venues like Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, Perez Art Museum Miami, and Elbo Room. However, that might of not been the case if I did not lay down the initial foundation and grow with my peers. Currently I play with a few different musicians including Rey Diez, Jered Rutan, and Jesse Balber; around the South Florida area as a duo, trio, or full band. I am as well working on releasing a few more singles this year, eventually leading to full length project.

I also began hosting my own weekly open mic and monthly showcase in 2022 at Thank You Miami, under the brand Good Luv. It was passionate project of mine that I dreamed about for years. We featured rising local artists like Carolina, Cesar Paniagua, and El Igor. Even though I loved my time there, the task of event organizer did start to take time away from my goals as a musician/songwriter so I passed on the torch to my good friend Luis Ramirez (aka Triks) in the fall of 2023. He hosts the thriving open mic at Thank You Miami every Wednesday night now.

As with anything you do, it requires work to sustain and flourish it. Incredibly proud of the work and progress I’ve made so far and hope to keep growing and improving as the years go on.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you are looking an artist looking to grow, I definitely recommend checking out one of these open mics in South Florida.

– Savage Labs in Wynwood. Their open mic is every Tuesday hosted by Eddy Gatoe (musicians only)

– Riverside Market Plantation’s open mic on Monday nights presented by Intracoastal Entertainment

– Thank You Miami’s all arts open mic on Wednesdays hosted by Triks

– Tea & Poets weekly open mic on Wednesdays (family/kid friendly)

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t have been able to succeed with out the support of the local creatives in South Florida.

I want to shout out my good friend Lucas Doytier who produces events and open mics under “Intracoastal Entertainment” in Broward County. Him and his team are a critical part of why I am where I am today. He has helped me tremendously by providing a great space every Monday at Riverside Market Planation and booking me at various venues around the city. At his events is where I grew as an artist and met fellow musicians like Rebecca Marie and Erica Gard who have been incredibly helpful in my transition into being a professional musician.

Also want to shout out Nicole White from Sunny Side Up Market. She was one of the first people to give me a consistent paying gig at her local markets. I play at the Mass District event they throw every second Sunday in Fort Lauderale. It is still one of my favorite place to play!

Lastly I would shoutout Alex Valle and his restaurant/venue, “Thank You Miami”. Alex and I have been working together to produce events and open mics since they opened in December of 2021. I consider him and the staff apart of my family and wouldn’t have been able to give back and grow with the community if it wasn’t for the opportunity he gave me. If you are looking for something to do in Miami, Thank You Miami in Little Havana will never let you down.
