We had the good fortune of connecting with Judy Malka and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Judy, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
In my case, it is the hunger and passion that is driven from the core of my artist gift and knowing that I stand out with my artistic ability. It is commitment, persistence, a very clear vision of myself and how im being viewed. Success can be defined in so many different ways, you are behind that vehicle. It is a constant nurturing in every realm of your being.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart in my artistry is perhaps the diverse range of roles and experiences I’ve had. From being one of the Israeli kids in the ROCK OPERA “JesusChrist Superstar” to appearing in beloved shows like “Orange is the New Black,” “The Punisher,” “Law and Order,” “Sex and the City,” “The Sopranos,” and “Gotham,” I’ve been fortunate to work on a wide array of high-profile productions. Additionally, my work in movies and theater has been a labor of love, each project contributing to the tapestry of my career. One of the biggest challenges I faced was balancing the demands of pursuing my passion with the practicalities of life. It required sacrifices, determination, and a belief that my dedication would pay off. Overcoming these challenges meant staying focused on my goals, even when faced with setbacks or doubts. I surrounded myself with a supportive network of mentors, peers, and loved once who believed and believes in me, and that made all the difference.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m from New York, so there are countless exciting things to do and see, truly an infinite array of options. If my best friend were visiting for a week, I would want to give them a taste of the city’s vibrant culture and diverse experiences. We would start with a visit to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) to immerse ourselves in incredible art and innovation. Then, a trip to Lincoln Center, a hub of performing arts, would be a must, perhaps catching a ballet or symphony performance. Of course, I would make sure to take them to the Metropolitan Opera, where I recently performed, to witness the magic of world-class opera. For dining experiences, I would take them on a culinary journey through the city. We’d indulge in the culinary delights of every restaurant owned by Danny Meyer, whose hospitality and cuisine are top-notch. Each meal would be a memorable experience. We’d also venture to Nobu for exquisite Japanese cuisine and Tao for a lively atmosphere and delicious Asian fusion dishes. Throughout the week, we’d soak in the vibrant energy of New York City, from its iconic landmarks to its hidden gems. The city never sleeps, and neither would we, making the most of every moment with laughter, adventure, and unforgettable experiences.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definetly, my nephew Adam Malka, owner & partner at SignatureTracks. He is the ultimate model of what is success could mean to some. I’m amazed to have witnessed how he mastered business & entrepreneurship. So proud knowing him.
