We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikkie Chadwick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nikkie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to be my own boss! I have always been a hard worker and decided that I wanted to put my talents and efforts into starting my own business and being successful for myself and not for someone else.
What should our readers know about your business?
I pinch myself every day! I am living the dream, doing what I absolutely love to do! Nothing comes easy in life, but I feel that working hard towards your dreams, anything is possible. Our brand stands for quality, and our customers know they will receive the absolute BEST customer service when they choose to shop with us!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Beloit is the absolute BEST! The first place I would take them would of course be Downtown Beloit to Walnut Creek Apparel and gifts 🙂 There are several other adorable boutiques in the area such as Pizzazz, Chic and Unique, Tin Dog Records, The Villager, and the Nest Egg. After a little retail therapy, drinks on the rooftop of Hotel Goodwin would be a must. Then for the best meal in down, we would go to Merrill and Houston’s Steak Joint. On Saturdays, Beloit has one of the best Farmers Markets in the state which is located right in front of my store. All of the thing listed above are in Downtown, but Beloit has so many other areas that are spectacular to visit. Dita’s Westside Pub has the absolute BEST breakfast in town, and The Beckman Mill or Big Hill Park have beautiful walking paths that can be accessed year round. If they happened to be visiting in the summer months, Music at Harry’s Place is also a great way to spend a Friday evening in the park listening to music in the great outdoors!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was fortunate enough to have an entire community willing to support my small business. We specialize in all things LOCAL including the Beloit College and all area schools spirit wear. We also offer several items in our store that were made by other local vendors. The shoutout really needs to go to my amazing staff for helping to bring my dreams to reality!
