We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharon Crew and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharon, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
I believe the most important decision that I made when starting my organization was how it could help other individuals just like me! I want it to be something that help other families and I believe that’s what contributed to my business being relevant and eventually very successful.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Sharing with Sharon is a nonprofit organization that was created to bring clarity and understanding to all things Autism. The story behind my organization is that as a first time mom I found out that my son was diagnosed with autism around 18 months. Not only a mother I was also an educator that have been teaching and working with children on the spectrum. After my son’s diagnosis I decided to further my education. I went back to college and received my masters degree in applied behavioral analysis to learn more about the behavioral aspects of autism. One of the lessons that I would like for people to know about my brand is that there is purpose in your pain. The thing that I thought would defeat me eventually turned into a way to help other people! Despite the challenges that I have faced being an Autism mom there’s so many people and families that I’ve helped with what I am currently and have experienced.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wow, this is a great question! If I was taking my friend out for seven days, I believe that it would be based on the things that I truly like, which are nice restaurants located in Miami. For example Kiki on the river, A restaurant called Komodo, a dessert place called Lola because I love sweets. We would most likely go to the movies which is called the rooftop cinema. I believe we will definitely go to one of the unique garden places in Miami and the Venetian pool. I love water and massages so we would go to the contour day spa and the Gondola tour.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I honestly can only truly at this moment shout out my firstborn child Rhijan Randall. My son was the ultimate reason why I started my nonprofit organization. Being a first time mom, I was already having difficulty navigating being a mother and eventually, I had to learn how to not be a mother, but also a mother of a child with autism. So at this very moment, I would give all credit and recognition to him that I was just trying my best to learn how to be a parent to a child with Autism!
