We had the good fortune of connecting with Tinisha Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tinisha, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued a creative career because my passion lies in storytelling, community building, and supporting others, all of which are deeply rooted in my faith in God. I created a thriving online community Facebook group known as “Sisterhood in Christ,” which grew to over 32K women across the world. I also launched an inspirational blog for creatives and entrepreneurs. Now, post-graduation from college, I’m in the process of rebranding to prepare for the launch of my entertainment blog and online media agency, Jones Media & Co. I’ve always been driven by a desire to connect with people and inspire them in ways that reflect my commitment to living out my faith.
Working in the nonprofit sector allows me to blend my skills in multimedia and public relations with my heart for service. My creative pursuits, including my recent venture into food vlogging, also reflect my love for exploring new ideas and sharing them in innovative ways.
Ultimately, I believe that creativity, guided by my faith, has the power to uplift, inspire, and bring people together, and that’s why I chose this path.
What should our readers know about your business?
When I first launched my business, it began as an inspirational blog called IAmChic Inspires. I had a passion for storytelling and helping businesses and owners share their stories in an empowering way, even when they had faced trauma. Since graduating from FAMU and starting a full-time job, finding a balance between work, family, and my business has been challenging. However, I’m determined to find that balance for my purpose and continue moving forward.
Throughout my degree program, I realized that I wanted to evolve beyond just running a blog or a Facebook group; I aimed to become a media professional. As a result, I’m now transitioning my business into a full media company that offers brand development, public relations strategy, photography, videography, and graphic design, focusing on clients in music, sports, and entertainment. The inspirational blog will also be rebranded as a music and entertainment blog.
What sets my business apart is my personal experience of being in the client’s position. I understand what it feels like to be stuck and uncertain about the next steps or how to execute a big vision. My journey has involved connecting with successful industry talents and gaining valuable insights, which has been incredibly rewarding. I built my business with very few dollars—just a vision, and my payment method was faith. Thankfully, it never declined. God showed up at the teller each time, lol.
One of the significant challenges I experienced in my most recent season was overcoming self-doubt and the struggle to be recognized by employers post-grad, despite having the skills and passion for my field. Staying connected with my network and reaching out to others in my industry provided reassurance and helped me navigate this period. Since then, I’ve landed a job in my field. I’ve learned that entrepreneurship and walking in your purpose don’t happen overnight; patience and perseverance are key.
I want the world to know that I’m a hard worker, dedicated to my purpose and passion. Though I’m from Miami, I’m on a path that will make a significant impact in the media industry. Turn up your volumes and get your flat screens ready because you’re about to watch your next household name!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout first and foremost to God, whose guidance has been the foundation of everything I do. I also want to recognize the incredible community at Family Worship and Praise Center in Tallahassee, FL. During my time there, they were unwavering in their support of my educational goals and business ventures, and their encouragement meant the world to me.
I’m deeply grateful for my mom, dad, big brothers, and friends who have always been my biggest cheerleaders. A special shoutout goes to the book “Set Boundaries, Find Peace: A Guide to Reclaiming Yourself” by Nedra Glover Tawwab. It helped me find balance and focus on doing things for myself and others in a healthy, sustainable way. Lastly, I want to acknowledge my professors at FAMU. They played a crucial role in my professional development, providing motivation, encouragement, and valuable insights throughout my journey. I owe a lot of my success to these influences and the love and support they’ve shown me.
