We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyssa Grover and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alyssa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I am an innovative entrepreneur. When the opportunity came to reinvent ourselves to become a viable business through the pandemic, I wanted to go back to my roots and cook the food that I am passionate about. As a trained chef and business woman, I found the opportunity to show our local community food that I grew up with and love to share with others.

What should our readers know about your business?
At abc Lobster, what sets us apart is that we use the freshest of seafood and products. Our lobster comes in live and is flown in daily to us from Maine. It was incredibly important for me to serve the same products that I get in my home state of Maine, here in South Florida. For example, our lobster rolls: we use fresh lobster that is steamed daily, never frozen, and no fillers. This is extremely hard to find away from New England. The dishes that we have chosen for the menu have also been inspired by our New England roots. We serve classic food in the freshest form.
We work countless hours to keep our brand alive, keep our customers happy and always wanting to come back for more. However, it has not always been easy, especially starting out during a global pandemic when much of the food industry was forced to stop operation. Every step along the way we found ways to keep going. Our unique location makes us a hidden gem restaurant. It was next to our catering kitchen and became available for us in the midst of the pandemic. We don’t have the street traffic or drive-by visibility so marketing is always by word-of-mouth or social media. Although it still feels some days that we are still fighting to get out of the trenches, at the end of the day after talking to guests who have chosen to dine with us, it is extremely rewarding. Week after week, and month after month, we love seeing our growth and our future potential for more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I enjoy Hollywood Beach because of the broadwalk. There are hotels, places to eat, and activities all in one small area alone the beach.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My current business partner, Alan Bergman. He has believed in me more than anyone else and has helped me get to where I am now and the business to where it is now.
